A few things of note:

1. Unlike GXL, this isn't a LAN where you should just camp out all night. Most sane people just split rooms (they're CHEAP) between 2-4 people. The facility is a basement conference hall - which means that smells and heat are held in longer than usual. It's a decent gaming environment, but a terrible sleeping environment.

2. If you stay at a room, bring your own pillowcase. When I stayed last time, my face broke out overnight and it took almost a full week to clear up again. The rooms aren't dingy or anything - it's just that the linens can often irritate sensitive skin.

3. This LAN is cozy - but also tight. Don't expect a ton of space compared to GXL. The nice part is that you can easily get from place to place.

4. The surrounding area is a bit boring - the closest place of real down-time entertainment is Harrisburg, PA.

5. Don't forget power cords and misc. hookups. The FITES people can spare you an ethernet cable - but don't expect anything more.

Last year it was so bad in there that I had to get up and leave after 10 minutes to go buy a bunch of air fresheners because some people were wearing vagina repellant. If you do not shower AND use deodorant, I will hold you down and spray axe body spray in your eyes.

6. If you're the type that gets sweaty and musty in heat, bring a pocket fan. Trust me, the 2-3 times you'll use it will be worth your while. It will be 35-50 degrees outside - and about 80-90 inside.

7. The chairs are shit - bring a cushion or your ass is going to be in pain.

8. The SF tournament is where it's at. Join in regardless of your skill level.

9. The parking lot has a nice spotlight in it. Car theft should not be an issue at this LAN.

10. *EDITED* Not really appropriate after thinking about it.

11. The food at the hotel bar is underwhelming. The suburbs west of Harrisburg as well as the short drive to the Harrisburg town centre are both well worth your while for some good eats. Treat it like a road trip - there's fun stuff to do around the area. I'll be hitting up the German specialty store just east of the LAN site.

Looking into getting a casting setup for the SF (and smash bros?) Tourney. I got a black magic card I can bring with me, and I've been chatting with the admins already... console -> projector -> capture card? Hopefully that'll work, I don't want to add input delay through routing it into the capture card.

I'll actually be trying to cast all the tourneys, especially considering that FITES tries to schedule tourneys so everyone can compete in everything. L4D2 finals were awesome but we didn't have the spectator slot worked out last year :/

Does anyone know how you are supposed to actually print your ticket? The OP says you would receive a PM with a code and link to download the ticket(s), but what I got was an email with what looks like a barcode with a code under it and a download for the waiver. Is there something I'm missing?

I didn't print them last time and it was fine, but that was a significantly smaller one....

FITES staff member here. It is great to see how excited you all are for the LAN!

Paragon - Print out the email you received from LANFest that contains the barcode. That barcode is what we will scan to check you in at the door. We can look you up without it; however, the check-in process will be much quicker if you bring it with you.
