I started as a pocket main because it was an open spot. I wasn't very good but I enjoyed being the meatshield to the medic and helping my team by doing damage. Not too long ago (2 seasons past?) I figured out that I'm much better at supporting my team as a roamer instead because I can then focus on timing and out game sensing my opponent to get that one crucial pick that let's us push. I also chose roamer because rockets better suit how I aim (or how I don't aim). On top of that, I feel like roamer has an incredibly high skill ceiling that we haven't really seen much achieved yet. I want to be at the top of that.
Scout. Only class in the game that actually has some ability for advanced movement. Also a reason to say "I'm sniping" a lot.
Demo.
I did a lot of advanced conc jumping maps in tfc and conc jumping mechanics are more similar to demo than it is for soldier. So learning rollouts was very easy. I never really did rocket jumping in tfc.
I also played ricochet competitively which requires fairly good projectile aim.
Soldier because an IRL friend wanted an MGE partner, I got my first taste of competitive playing weird inhouse 3v3 pugs (granary, no medic/heavy allowed, no weapon restrictions) in a broken dm server that was simply named 'Extras 2' (we would decide teams by votescramble, and voterestart when it was all settled) Oh the simple times <3
Every class. because I was needed by different teams on different classes.
I prefer sniper the most out of any class I've played in this game, there's no boundaries to what you can do on it.
Back in beta, some guys on my Unreal Tournament 2004 / Day of Defeat: Source team started to play TF2. They started about a week before me, so when I showed up, they were like "ayo, you should medic."
And yeah.
Soldier because I was a pubstar with it for almost 3 years before I joined comp
I first wanted to main med but I was told it takes too much skill and experience so I randomly chose demo.
Soldier, cuz I like rocket jumping more than anything else. Also, directs are satisfying.
when i first started playing i remember watching shiny charizard and delpo and air stomping pubs as scout so i just decided to do that
I started playing Pyro because it looked like the one class I could be an absolute prick with
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRSW0Y1SgoA
this is why
The reason I main scout, is I like going fast pace and I like the Scout's voice. Also I like the stock weapons.
I originally mained med, but I had a lot more talent as scout and I can't count uber at all so it worked out.
Demoman because I played Solly so much that it started getting boring for me and Pipes are different than rockets but also different than hitscan so it was a new challenge for me.
Scout for the simple reason that it's really satisfying.
And when my best class is still sniper it doesn't hurt to play a class where I can be gay and snipe either.
started with pyro because it was thoughtless and easy, then I got into comp and picked up medic. I've always enjoyed the healers/support characters in games so it was an easy decision. Plus I suck at everything else.
When I finally evolved and tried other maps then 2Fort, there was one Heavy who was always top scoring the Goldrush maps. He was really agile for a slow class, pushing and falling back, moving around, flanking as much as he could. In most cases he was the only guy that used voice chat, so he attracted a lot of attention and you could hear he was an older bloke, around late 40s.
So I took the Medic and pocketed the old fuck, without a mic, so I had to write stuff in chat like "GO I'LL POP", used chat commands like "SPY!" etc.
He would always put me on the top of the scoreboard so I continued playing Medic. Still have him on my friend list, 5 years later. Love you Mystikal. <3
Demoman, because its a cheat code in pubs and I can't aim.
EkkelundI first wanted to main med but I was told it takes too much skill and experience so I randomly chose demo.
Fyi, they lied to you
Got sort of picked up from a pub server to try out pocket. I haven't really given much thought to the whole 'why' part of it, I've only played in two teams and both of them needed a soldier. Four soldier seasons later I'm kinda thinking I could try something else too.
Engineer. Engineer was something different, something more interesting. I went through scout, pyro and medic before I got into playing engineer and stayed happily with that. It's an enjoyable feeling to be the somewhat core of the defence, at least an important part of it. I also love shooting spies...
Medic was always the only available class in tf2lobby back in the day and I stuck with it because I suck at every other class.
Soldier because I started a steel 6s team with some IRL friends, and none of them wanted to play it
Then switched to scout because I really wanted to find a team, but nobody was looking for soldiers
I LOVE killing people with the crossbow.
And healing people is cool I guess too.
It's not by choice anymore. I'm convinced people have me play scout to make them feel better about themselves. 140dpm life
