Overall, Froyotech did a flawless job, each and every one of them. Both in DM and tactics. B4nny and co. definitely deserve the title of world champions.

Mixup Harbleu's clutch medic play versus IM was also one of the best things I've ever seen.

IM are the champions of the hearts of course, with amazing plays by yuki and sheep as expected. But holy hell, what was up with Termo? He was insane, and delivered some of the most entertaining moments with his holds on Badlands last. The way he just sat on top of that lamp over the cp and watched as 4G didn't know what to do with 1 player left to deal with was hilarious. Almost no one knew how to handle it and didn't want to go on point. Laughed my ass off.

Overall, Epsi was underwhelming, except for their new demo. War's damage output was insane. But the rest of the team- I don't know what went wrong. It seems they crumbled as Knoxxx tried to micromanage every player himself and indipendently and they were relying too much on him. But then again I don't know shit about the game at his high level and should shut up. While 4G and Mixup mostly showed consistent plays, Epsi showed great fights as well, but was mostly able to gain point control by clutch plays like backcaps and War's amazing crit stickes etc, their mids were mostly meh.

Demo: WAR poured out damage and Termo made so many big plays. Plat was also very impressive.

Pocket: Yuki can hit just about anything, but Lansky really put 4G on his back in a couple matches.
Soldier play in general was incredible in this tournament.

Roamer: Blaze showed up big time. Seagull was Seagull, making all the plays. Tek rekt all.

Medic: Harbleu gets so many points for that Saw+Crossbow Bolt finish, but Shade was regular best-medic-in-tf2 Shade. Knoxxx also gets an award for most prolific use of Kritz, which was fun.

Scout: Hard to pick. Clockwork came alive as the competition went on. Squid+Enigma were working so well together. Sheep was insane, also on sniper of course, and his partner Snowblind was a surprise, very strong. Starkie went to work for AwS. Kiler also went absolutely mental. Also, shout out to Smzii, [R]eason didn't do well, but he was still able to show off a little bit of his scout prowess. Basically, there was a lot of really good scouts.

Offclassing: Sheep best sniper. Tek also made big plays.
... Clock best pyro. He sure can mash M2 well.

All in all, though, the level of play at this LAN was absolutely top-notch. So many great players, so many great plays.

I've always thought this is incredibly cliche to say, but I don't think you can fully appreciate just how good everyone at this event was and how close the top5 teams were unless you played in the event. Every team had great players and every game came down to the wire (except the finals :/)

Epsilon won the invite group convincingly, and iM placed second in front of froyotech, so I think its safe to say any of those 4 teams could have placed 1st, I don't think froyotech was so far ahead the other teams, they were just playing incredibly well and consistent in the final.

If just 1 per class

Scout - Clockwork (I think he's undoubtedly the best in the world)

Pocket - Yuki (The hype about the Aussie pocket wasn't all fluff, he did great at i52)

Medic - Shade (I get that Mix^ might not have won without Harbleu's last play, but Shade was consistently amazing throughout the entire event.)

Demo - Duwatna (Of all the demomen on the top teams, Duwatna was the one that didn't stand out to most people. He didn't get huge damage output like War, didn't make enormous plays alot like Plat, and wasn't as good at DMing like Termo. But he played probably the smartest games out of any of the top 4. War and Plat both botched up kritz plays, and both of them didn't do very well in the last games when they lost and their teams needed them to perform. Termo's strat to stand on top of the point in Badlands last was extremely effective the first time, but it soon became something that was exploited and gave a HUGE advantage to the other team. Duwatna never really had any holes in his play style that other teams exploited and just played smart and solid games throughout the entire tournament. Sorry for the rant about demomen.)

Roamer - Seagull (Both of the NA roamers were ridiculously good at i52, hard to choose between the two)

SmithsonianHyperi0nSaddening to see lotta iM players being mentioned and yet they came 4th :/in my books these teams are pretty much even in terms of skill and it just comes down to how they perform on the day (maybe not froyo though? I never got to see the grand final so I never got to see their play but after the group stages they seemed to settle in and start performing a lot better, so maybe they were that extra step up from the rest). So 4th is still certainly not a disappointment, especially after the games they put out

also from the games i watched, seagull performed incredibly (how many times did he get bonobo on snake v iM saving his team from a last hold v uber? insane play)

I think the only reason IM came out fourth was because they didn't have as much of an understanding of how to protect their med. I mean Seagull was getting Bonobo with almost every single jump on that Snakewater game. In individual engagements and DMing ability IM is dead even if not above all the other teams. They just aren't used to every single player on the other team being able to pressure that much harder for their med in fights. Some of it was on Bonobo, but a lot of it was on IM for not having a scout in position to shut down the roamer bomb, or a soldier to shut down the scout barreling in through flank in the same way other teams could.

I agree that Termo was the best demo there, but I really think the Badlands last deal was quite selfish. It took a few pushes to figure out how to deal with it, but teams figured it out, it didn't even phase Mixup. Also maybe he wouldn't have to watch all of 4G standing around the point with his team dead if he had actually been contributing to the defense in the first place.

I don't know if this has been said, but in the every one of last four maps against epsilon, clockwork outfragged both epsilon scouts put together.

I normally don't like stats, but that's pretty fucking insane no matter how you spin it.

group stage was just glorified scrimming

I think its kind of unfair to say that any team could have placed 1st when Froyo literally 2-0'd iM and then epsi twice.

It's one thing to say that teams are super close when they go 3 maps in the knockout and it comes down to the final round (via epsi vs. mix^) or golden cap (iM vs. mix^ and mix^ vs. epsi). Those were fucking close, but watching Froyo play during the actual bracket I never caught myself thinking "wow these teams are dead even". Close yes, but Froyo just outplayed iM and epsi repeatedly.
