Odissius"But won't this destroy scouts and spies' ability to flank?"
No. There is no change in gameplay with a FOV increase of 15 degrees. A player with 105 FOV versus one with 90 does not have any distinct advantage.
You just killed your own argument if there's no difference then just stick with 90 fov

90% of the people who have posted in this thread are disagreeing or misunderstanding because they are uninformed or willfully ignorant.
The petition isn't going to work, that much is clear now. So may as well rustle some jimmies.

Haha is this thread still going on? Guess e` is too busy being at LAN and all that.
Odissius, I'm going to run through this once, very clearly, so that maybe you'll actually understand. Chances are by now that you've already -frag'd me and are typing up an incredibly wit-and-logic-filled response, but in the off chance you decided to read more than three sentences, allow me to enlighten you as to why you are currently in the bottom 5 percent of "likable people in the community."
You came up with a pretty reasonable suggestion: increase the FoV limit to 105 from 90. Okay, sure, that'd be nice; there are plugins to do that for vanilla TF2 already, so you'd only need ESEA to unban the plugin, got it. We'll make two assumptions for now: 1) people with the power to change the ESEA Client are reading this thread, and 2) ESEA is willing to make such a change. Most people understand that neither of these are true, though.
Anyway, we'll move on to why people are, in your words, "shitposting," and in everybody else's, "disagreeing" with you. There are three simple reasons for this:
1. When people raise valid points against you (and are agreed with), you simply tell them they are wrong or ignore the point completely, despite it being the general consensus. After seeing somebody disagree with you, rather than point out their mistake or defend your argument with new material, you call them "faggots", "idiots", "shitposters", etc. and offer nothing constructive.
2. When one person does kind of agree with you, you acknowledge them as the only intelligent person in the community (second only to yourself, of course) and praise them heavily, while implying that 99% of the community is wrong and you're the 1% who really knows what's up.
3. As people have mentioned, the extra 15 degrees isn't there for a reason; yes, other games have used higher FoVs in the past, and you're right in that we do change Valve's rules a bit to enhance competitive play. Unfortunately, your strongest reasoning for making the change is that you have (a rare case of) eye strain, while the concerns against this change essentially add up to "it changes the game too much to keep it balanced."
So, three simple points. To sum up succinctly: you're being a huge tool, you're being heavily biased and unwilling to have some perspective (ironic, no?), and your idea holds water but certainly not enough to warrant the change. There you have it, have fun ignoring all of that and calling me retarded.

I understand both of those things, I was hoping to get people behind the petition on here and then try to get in touch with the right people at ESEA.
synchro1. When people raise valid points against you
I am still waiting for a legitimate argument against raising the FOV cap by 15 degrees for everyone.
synchro2. When one person does kind of agree with you, you acknowledge them as the only intelligent person in the community (second only to yourself, of course) and praise them heavily, while implying that 99% of the community is wrong and you're the 1% who really knows what's up.
Of course I'm going to do that, when 90% of the posts are people just saying "lol" "this is stupid" "this will break tf2" etc. I wish the invite players I talked to who thought it was a good idea would've posted here.

If you do a Google search on 'Low FOV Eye Strain / Headaches' you will get thousands of results.
Still waiting for someone to detail exactly how 15 degrees extra FOV breaks TF2 gameplay any more than other things, like turning off viewmodels to see more on screen. Because in my experience it has not. Spies will still get stabs in and scouts will still be able to flank and meatshot.

why is an esea issue? theyre unlikely to change something clamped at game engine level... bring this up with valve.

Did you learn how to argue from talkshow hosts or something? You discredit peoples posts by saying that they're shit posters and calling them names without even responding to them. All you're trying to do is talk over them by flaming and whining and -fragging them with all your alts.
Also, no invite player wants the game changed because of your personal problem. You're still trying to push this for a person reason, which nobody gives a shit about. They might want to increase the FOV cap, but in no way would they want to associate themselves with an asshole flamer like yourself. Hence why there are more invite posts against you than for you.
Also, if eye strain affects your gameplay, then increasing FOV changes gameplay. Visual clutter affects gameplay. Tunnel visioning you affects gameplay. Having the FOV capped affects gameplay. I'd rather nerf you, the super amazing invite player who's being kept down by the 16 ammo reserve rockets and 105 real FOV cap, than give you the FOV buff.

I suppose you wish we went back to vanilla TF2 with medlocks? You really don't know how to argue. What you like to do is get random facts together and hope that people will see them as "proof" of your message, when in reality they can easily show the gameplay problems with increased peripheral vision (all you need to see is a significant change in that opened up FOV to make a difference). Things can still get past, but there is a reduced chance that it will happen. Reducing this chance is a nerf to flanking. You can't deny that it can just because you personally have tunnel vision. Plenty of people can quickly notice and react to a small change in light. Stop trying to deny it won't affect gameplay.

I've answered this a few times already...OpenPlugin lets you set your FOV to whatever you want up to 130.
So you can pub and scrim to your heart's desire at your preferred FOV.

not all pubs will have this plugin. wouldn't it be unfair for 6v6 players that enjoy pubbing? they have to play with two different fov settings so that they can get the same advantage as everyone else.
and how exactly does low fov cause eyestrain?

such a good thread
You need to respond to more of the opposition odisius.
Many of the posts with points not valid enough to argue against, other people have found valid.
such as:
1.demo becoming more powerful
2.while an incremental change such as 15fov may not effect gameplay that much, (NOT NONE) more incremental changes over time will have a large effect. Where would you draw the line?
