Also blocks access from IE, Tor, Steam browser, and whatever other browser you may like to use outside of chrome/firefox.
I wonder how many new players are going to even bother when they see this.

aaaaand it's reverted.
they got rid of the adblock detection just a moment ago; should be fine now.

Blocking Adblock users is a good way to kill the site, and it could possibly stop the flow of new players into comp.

That seems like a horrible idea, considering TF2C is usually promoted as the one of the first stepping stones of competitive.

Because you will need to type the password yourself and it can be a problem for newer players that doesn't know where to find this stuff

I imagine they're going to start showing ads. Otherwise, it doesn't make any sense why they would block adblock users.

I have suggested to them about ads they said they weren't intrested in doing ads.

Maybe some script that they were using with the notification system they implemented in that update was blacklisted by AdBlock for some reason and they couldn't find another way to get around it then?

this seems more plausible and i dont think forcing ppl to remove adblock so they can access ur site is the way to go. i'd chalk it up to an accident tbh

There's no adblock for steam browser either, so even if they block adblock users it wont matter

Steam browser presumably doesn't support some of the formatting/scripting that they use

I don't think it's that big of a deal to have to disable adblock on tf2c if they decided to start showing ads.
You don't even have to uninstall adblocker, just disable it on a site, bunch of crybabies, no website is going to die just because of that, also its a free website, no harm in having some ads.

Forcing people to remove adblock is going to push some away. A notification or banner for adblock users would work better.

We have no plans for the foreseeable future to implement ads whatsoever.
It's basically to prevent users not seeing our new notifications that are being pushed out soon.
Using an adblock banner like other sites isn't feasible since the notification system will show user-specific messages (I think bans are in there as well).

Still never a good idea to ban Adblock.

Never said it is, just giving some background info on why that update was pushed out (and reversed)

It's actually funny how much of an impact adblock has on for example youtubers their income, I know most big tech channels earn around the same amount as 10x smaller channels for either make-up/fashion or kids.

I am bringing this thread back from the dead because it started happening again and disabling AdBlock doesn't help, only the full removal.

The thing that bugs me is that TF2Stadium is actually easier to use, especially with the server reservations, yet people still refuse to use it because it's not populated. I'm sure there are loads of people who would rather use stadium, it's just a matter of getting them all over there at the same time.

dashnerKind of implies that it's going to be re-implemented once they fix whatever was wrong with it. (Unless they're really that incompetent that the adblock blacklist was a bug in an update)
This is a really awful idea and will turn a lot of people off. Hope it's permanently dead.
I hope they keep it and center dies so everyone can finally switch to a good website.
