i presume his post was more about lowering the risk of getting your shit stolen. the average thief is probably more likely to steal a bag from a car, rather than a bag that's on someone's back.
besides, if there's no bag in your car, that's one reason less for someone to smash in your window.

That's a very bad example, since simply a parking a car wouldn't get your window smashed, however if they see a bag laying in it (especially in a more expensive car) the chances are a lot higher they would.

My bag was below the seat, hard to notice, windows were tinted, too.

If you hold your hands against the sides of your head to close out light and then look through the window you can easily see it laying below the seat tho, and hiding something usually means there is something valuable involved

I literally had nothing of value except the actual backpack. No laptop or anything. It was definitely the expensive car. That drew attention. Funny thing is, there was an iPad in the back seat, in plain view, but he didn't go for that, or didn't see it for some reason. They were probably trying to grad something as fast as possible and leave.

it doesnt matter what was in the car, a bag in his fathers car at that particular moment of time was an easy target for the particular individual walking by. the person wanted to steal, and unless the thief knew the bag was there, it was a random crime. chances are if his father didnt park there, the individual would walk 20 feet ahead and steal someones gps or whatever else out of another car.

Yeah he probably thought you were packing some money in your bag or something, I could understand why he wouldn't go for the iPad since you can easily just use the GPS inside to track it.
