I've been thinking of joining an iron team for months now and i still don't know if i'm ready for comp.
In terms of me knowing the meta, the basics and what should i do,i'm ready.
But still,i'm not really sure if i have the skill to play comp at a decent level.
I mostly play in valve servers and most of the time i top score and i'm on top of the table, but of course, the point system is not really the greatest.
I've been playing Newbie Mixes these last few weeks and i'm pretty at them, but again, most players there are somewhat new (I'm not saying that're bad,but new).
So,How do i know if i'm "comp worthy"?

normally if you know about comp you're ready to join an iron team, since iron is basically the "i'm brand new to this" division

A lot of newbie mix players play like steel-silver so you are definitely ready for a first season if iron if you can keep up with them.

Do you enjoy playing TF2? Are you interested in comp? If yes, then you're ready for Iron in whatever format you want. You might not be the greatest, you might be losing the majority of your games, but you'll never get better at competitive TF2 without actually playing competitive TF2.

If you're asking this question, you're ready to begin looking for a team. It's like anything else--you'll never progress if you don't start.

Pay for premium and your Open fees. Everyone is comp worthy in open.

You don't start your TF2 career "comp worthy". You start it like most people do, absolutely garbage for a few weeks/months until you start to get the hang of it and can really focus on improving.
Join up with newbie mixes, join an Iron team, and have fun. Literally someone who just installed TF2 and has never played a first person shooter is comp worthy. This isn't some exclusive club only for the sufficiently skilled, this is for everyone and anyone.

Best advice is get a MINIMUM of 50 hrs on the class u wanna play, 5 newbie mixes or 50 lobbies. After that, you should be expeienced enough to play iron. If you still don't feel confident about it, feel free to add me on steam via my tf tv profile.

you're never not comp worthy tbh, just hop into tf2center (or stadium when it comes out woot) and play until you feel comfortable - not necessarily until you're good or do well but until you feel good.

Even if ur shit you should join a team and try to play the highest level pugs that people will tolerate you in. You will regret putting an extra hundred hours into pubs when you couldve improved more with 10 hours of dm/centers/pugs/scrims. If youre actually interested in 6v6, putting time into the right kind of tf2 is the difference between eventually being a 3000 hour IM player and a 3000 hour mid open player (like me).
It's worth a bit of embarrassment of being bad to not waste your hours. Start playing as much competitive as you can now and in a month or two you'll be wondering why you ever waited to get in.

the only requirement to being "comp worthy" is the drive to become a better player.

The key thing is when you get absolutely smashed (and you will) that you don't give up and look at what you could have done better.
