they should invite all current esea players not just popular people...
ESEA doesn't link very well to steam AND valve doesn't like ESEA because its pay2play in a f2p game

They'll be giving out more, unless 2v1 is the new gamemode
EDIT: WOW, ninja'd

looking at the trade.tf it looks like the beta pass is going to be purchasable, theres 4 to ever exist and 3 in the game right now, the other 2 are probably devs testing buying it from the mann co store as the other 2's origins trace back to the store.
the other two are both in Eric's (valve employee) inventory https://steamcommunity.com/id/paintrain
wickedplayer494Feel free to take shits on me all you want, but the fact of the matter is Valve can't afford to keep supporting your antiquated setups forever. If anything you should be thankful that they even bothered supporting XP and DX8 past 2013.
I built this computer in the past year, and I am required to keep dxlevel at 8 and FPS configs on lowest for no FPS stuttering. my system is not fucked up, nothing's wrong with it, and I have specs that's good enough for any other game I want to play, TF2 just has no real optimization
it's not entitlement to want to play the damn game I bought in 09
flamedota 2 and csgo have had skins the entire time. you guys need to calm down
dota 2 and csgo are actually optimized within reason for those skins
TF2 is a particle-laden CPU hog

did they optimize anything in this update? I typically get ~80 on dx9 benchmarks and i tried it today to see what it would be like in mm

that was recorded before skins existed so dx9 will bench better than it actually performs.

I never used a config on my laptop and I personally think dx8 looks pretty ugly, especially if you play Medic.
Use Chris' dx9 frames, it's not that traumatizing.

honestly, i'll take -25 fps for skins, given that websites like csgojackpot, csgolounge, all those other sites based almost entirely off skins are so successful. if it gets memelord twitch kids watching the games they betted on, I'm more than happy to make that trade, those betting sites probably bring in a huge proportion of the viewers
not that I don't feel bad for people that aren't gonna have solid frames on dx9, but if it helps the game then I gotta say I support it

KanecoOf course they're killing off dx8 because of skins, why is it not obvious, it's the main difference to dx9 since the last updates, and obviously they wanna make skins a real thing that has a lot of leverage in the game and comp community like in CSGO which is definitely not a bad thing.
Do you think their mentality, considering this to be true, that people without rarer skins will see them on, say, a killcam and think, "oh wow, that skin is amazing! I need to buy it/the crate!"? Besides that, I can't imagine what other importance forcing skins in competitive has. It's not like I'm gonna see some guy with a top notch, factory new, unusual weapon skin and think he's good at the game or anything. I guess some people are that naive.

I don't play it nor do I watch it. I don't know if that's actually a thing people think.
The point is that people buy skins in order to show them off. If your opponents have turned off skins they can't see your factory new unusual rocket launcher in the killcam.

this is already an objectively incorrect statement within a bubble of TF2, also. people judge you if you have only default loadout with no other items and/or wear pyrovision+gibus, and conversely the dude with a fancy unusual + a conga is the one everyone pays attention to during the pre-game minute

they want twitch streamers (b4nny or whoever is popular) to use skins and show them off, so that his 500(0) viewers all see the cool guns he and his friends use so they can get mad advertising for free.
its not complicated, the majority of the twitch streams running and being viewed are being seen through a players POV, with configs and all, not the tourney pov with the frag vid config on. If they don't set a floor, players WILL turn off the skins.
also yr dumb if you don't target the dude in the pub with the unusual first

It is because people want to know that others are seeing their special weapon skins.
If it starts to become widely known that a portion of players are not seeing the special skins then the people with skins will feel like less of a special snowflake. Valve will lose a tiny foothold on the monopoly of people that want to feel special when they play multiplayer games (hint: that is the majority of everyone playing video games today)

Enforcing viewmodels to be used might be going a bit far since a lot of people customise that even, outside of the current comp community. I can totally see it happening though, and I won't be bothered at all if they implement the same system of skins supporting comp as they have in their other games.
if they force viewmodels I will actually flip a shit.
