Seems like they added matchmaking queuing to the main menu just now- I disconnected from a server and had this problem. Uninstall your huds, at least the main menu part of them.
just crashed after watching a demo, not sure if it's an issue caused from this update or not, but hasnt happened before.
Is anyone else game crashing if a custom hud is being used?

It looks like taking out custom files will fix crashing when starting a search. It did for me, at least, and I cannot be too sure what exactly will crash people when starting a search.
Call me crazy, but I'm speculating it may just be an early stage of their "cheat" protection.
I'm certain Valve will fix the HUD crash within the next few days. They're usually pretty quick when it comes to crashes related to HUDs.
Removing the entire custom folder is a guaranteed fix so far.

my hitsound (hitsound.wav) and killsound (killsound.wav) both don't work on (some?) sv_pure 2 servers. instead it just plays the default sound.
