But we wouldn't know unless we tried it, which is arguably the hardest part
2 Demoman is a problem
2 Medics is a problem
2 Snipers is allowed in NA (even though they dont have good snipers xd) its not a problem.
2 Engineers is not a problem, you can just spam a sentry down, and then the other. They dont have time to rebuild the sentry so...
2 Pyros is not a problem, even if you put 2 pyros on 1 door to deny uber, you dont have a flank (my flank can just go in and spam the pyro from behind, or go point or w/e) and they might both die and you still lose. Your stickies will damage both pyros, and if you just bring in a solly behind the combo you can spam them both to dead.
2 Heavies is maybe a problem, uber 2 scouts in to kill the first heavy, but then theres still 1 heavy left somewhere, but you should have gotten control of one side of last and you have 2 more faster classes so you can just spam the other heavy to dead.
2 heavies + 2 engineers is a whole another problem though, or
2 engineers + 2 snipers, its almost impossible to spam the sentry without getting sniped.
etc..
I think it could work, but we never tried it (with current meta and teams) so who knows...

the problem with 2 engineers holding last is that they could just walk back to spawn and change class instantly without any negative effects when their sentry is destroyed
Not to mention unlocks like rescue ranger and wrangler that increase a sentry's survivability. I imagine valve will have to nerf/rework those eventually but they'll have a hard time with the pub engie mains that already think their class was undeservedly nerfed to oblivion.
More to the point I think the TF team cares, but Valve as a whole don't really care and as a result the TF team lacks manpower and resources to do things well.

do pub engies even think that? Engie stackings one of the strongest things ever in pubs. They have the innate repair/building of friendly stuff and spots with a resupply means they dont always have to ration ammo.
like i have a hard time believing that anyone who regularly plays payload, 5cp, ctf, or a/d hasnt once experienced a team running 3+ engies and just stalling out the whole game.
i feel like theres a lot of "engie is UP" sentiment on places like r/tf2 just because hes weak in highlander and very situationally good in 6s. But i think if you asked a random dude in-game theyd probably say engie is all but necessary on defense.

Actually 2 engineers/snipers/spies/pyros is a problem, it's a huge hinderance for the team that's running them, and those classes happen to be every public players and their mothers favorite classes
i sorta think they care, demoman has some 6s only voice lines added in: https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Demoman_responses#Competitive_Mode_responses
so does scout sniper spy and engineer. pyro is inaudible and the devil. but medic and soldier dont have any 6s lines at all.
this only means 1 thing: 10th class and hl3 confirmed.

Yes. Yet the TF2 dev team consists of like 3 or 4 people. The TF2 team must be underfunded.
If the TF2 devs get plenty of resources to work with they'd be able to hire more people but they don't.
They all worked overhours for multiple weeks when working on MyM and it still is a mess so they clearly don't have enough manpower for this thing, right? So why don't they just pay a couple of people to help them?
Are you confirming what I was saying or did you miss the point I was making?
That 2 million doesn't belong to the TF2 team. Valve decides what they provide the TF2 team with and it's not much.

I think a class limit of 1 will make players more conscious of their picks, would not make only 40% of the classes to be played and would ultimately put competitive TF2 on track to develop an actual meta for competitive.
Having different class limits for every class ends up being too confusing and might not make sense to most players. Remember that this needs to attract players from every single group and I think the awareness of what someone should play is going to increase.

Heh "are you confirming what I said or are you wrong?"
I'm confirming what you said in that Valve should fund tf2 development. You wrote "their" resources are limited, in reply to a thread titled "do you think valve cares", so I disagreed with that.
Valve have nearly unlimited resources and could do absolutely huge things for tf2 without even noticing the money is gone. How disconnected or not the tf2 team is from the money faucet and how democratic the resource allocation process is and how much is decided by executives/chairmen etc. I can't say because I don't work at Valve. I don't know who at Valve is deciding not to spend some of their outrageous money montain on tf2, but whoever it is, I believe they easily could and should.

Literally all valve needs to do to fix mm and balancing is to fly a bunch of top players from around the world to valve hq and have a huge-ass think tank about competitive balancing
I think the best way to add class limits is to use the three original class groups they made: Offence, Defence, and Support.
Add a 2 class limit to the offence classes (scout, soldier, pyro) and a 1 class limit to defence (demo, heavy, engi) and support (medic, sniper, spy). It's lenient enough to allow the standard meta, but restrictive enough to now allow for the ridiculous class stacking you see in current CompMM.
I mean yeah, it's not as perfect as just adding say, ETF2L class limits, but it's not as arbitrary as real competitive class limits, so new players won't get confused by the odd limits and also helps push 6's MM as an "offensive" gamemode.

from the sidebar it looks like it says "valve car" so i thought valve was making their own driverless car or something but on the real topic they care but not enough to make the game an esport worth being a professional in but i hope the valve car turns out well
i think they put up a facade of caring because they want to appease the competitive community, but if they -really- cared they would have given us a better matchmaking system a lot longer ago. i think its cool they met with some of the competitive players, that kind of speaks on a different level though.
At least they've acknowledged that i58 is coming up

EoNBBiA_duchess2 demos can have upwards of 4 traps and can make team pushes way slowerspringrollsi am not convinced that valve cares about 6's until they implement class limits
tbh a class limit of 2 would work perfectly. There is no need for anymore than 2 classes. A class limit of one is way too restrictive, but two is fine and very easy to implement.
2 medics will ruin the uber race
2 snipers can each stare down a sightline in spawn and change class quickly for an early force
2 engies can easily hold badlands if each is placed on top right and top left
2 pyros can deny an uber hard with double the ammo of 1
2 heavies can LG the fuck out of anything in the sky
Right but the point is that if you have 2 heavies for example, you push super slowly. If your two snipers can't hit anything, you're down two players. Everything has a trade off. Two medics can be powerful, but once again you have less dm.

2 medic would be fine if medic couldnt recieve an overheal. it makes sense lore wise too, because medic has to insert a special heart into his patients in order to use the medigun on them and he wouldn't be able to do that surgery on himself. problem solved youre welcome valve
Do you think Valve cares about 6s?
No. Either that or they are the most incompetent people in the world in every aspect.

The uber-heart is purely for ubercharge and not for healing patients. This is help true with the Quick-Fix being used on the Heavy in Meet the Medic during his Uber-Heart transplant to keep him alive without a heart.
Also in Meet the Medic, it's presumed that the Heavy is the first person who he's ever implanted an uber-heart in, considering the rest of the classes are waiting outside of the surgery room after the video. Also, he isn't ubered when he ubercharges the Heavy at the end, most likely because he didn't have an uber-heart prior and later gave himself one.
And really, Medic's pretty insane, why wouldn't he perform surgery on himself in ze name of science?

Actions speak louder than words, and their actions tell me that they don't give a crap about the community 6s, only the 6v6 format they've created, which has been an unmitigated disaster.

Valve makes upwards of $150 million of tf2 per year. If we are being super generous, it takes them $50 million to maintain the game. If they dropped $1 million (or even 100k) to help out the game, it really would not be hard.
