LOL this thread is retarded dead game no trap card to bring game to life LOL dead game in next 0-3 years(na scene) LOL
an natf2l branch of etf2l may be the only option if esea finally drops tf2 due to declining numbers
yerbi can certainly tell you the tf2 team cares about tf2. you have to understand we are not the majority of the tf2 playerbase. the people who make up the actual tf2 community are people who play pubs and never had a competitive thought in their life. they have to come first, valve is a business, why would they allow their employees to dump money in their own individual passion (ex esports).
the team is passionate about tf2, but you cant expect someone to risk getting fired to please a couple (hundred? thousand?) people
hey you know what incentivises people to try competitive? make a fucking functional matchmaker

yeah, the fact that competitive tf2 matchmaking has been riddled with the same cheaters and alters since it's launch is pretty pathetic
if valve truly cares then they would do something about it like they do with cheaters in csgo matchmaking

Fixed that for you. I wish I was kidding.

well my first thought is tri because without esea tf2 he'd be out of a job, but at the same time, i'm pretty sure esea tf2 is the only thing keeping him attached to the community

FUNKeI really, really, really want to know what's eating up valve's time. I would have known, if they had ever made that what we're up to blogpost. Of course, they didn't. Their community is unarguably suffering from their absence, the relevancy of competitive itself has teetered on eggshells for years, and even now we have no clue if there's even any future to hold out for.
Valve has never been relevant to the survival of competitive TF2 with the single exception of the Highlander challenge and the novelty of a medal that brought a lot of new players in, and that was run by ETF2L (specifically ashkan) - all Valve did was say "yes"

Valve's not really satisfying them either, though. They're also disappointed with the lack of updates, communication, and quality content. Both communities are slowly losing player numbers for the same reason, valve's just not putting out consistently good stuff in a timely manner like they were before.

Don't worry. We're gonna get the blog post the day after ESEA dies.

Unicorn_WizardI don't know what I was expecting from this thread but an alfa broking war of words certainly wasn't one of them. Aside from that, if there is a solution to get tf2 to grow a bit and show a bit more life I'm not sure what it is. I really don't want to see a competitive scene I've been following/playing in for 3-4 years to die, but the way things have been going just seem to point to a continual slow decline. I'd love nothing more than to be wrong, however.
Well the fresh meat cup in etf2l has been a success so maybe trying to do a similiar thing or something for the na folks?

we have this thread every 3 months. the lessons are: don't rely on valve for anything, and competitive 6s will always live on in some form as long as there is a community of people who like playing 6s.
you will probably never be able to make a living off playing TF2 if your name isn't b4nny, and that's ok.

alfaYes please try to go back to CEVO and boycott ESEA, that worked really well last time. Btw your "high level" died quite some time ago if that wasn't obvious.
why do you have to be such an insufferable cunt

I wanted to say this earlier.
It's not the fact that we are boycotting esea, it's that esea (at the time a day ago) was going to fail, possibly no invite etc. And i wasn't saying CEVO exactly, just a new league that provides a new option in general like CEVO. times are way different. Also this question is more for the lil far future. not just this season

Let us hope that the Pyro Update will revive this community and maybe even grow it
I don't see any updates after the Pyro Update being as important so I really fucking hope it works out
EDIT: Also needs to come out before i-series or the new players will have nothing to tune into

Seagull: Hi I am a professional Overwatch player.
Lansky: Hi I compete in powerlifting and have a total over 1000 lbs
Tyrone: Hi I have a job working for iBuyPower
Alfa: im sorry im not good i apologize for my ego please forgive me, im just very insecure and when broking posts logs of him beating me in a video game I feel personally attacked.

I find that VARY difficult to believe at this point. Sure we get a couple of guys catching TF2 Devs on their brakes twice a year and everything seems to be fine and dandy, but if we look at the rest of the time there's mountains of anecdotal evidence to suggest that they don't care AT ALL. Some low-hanging fruit examples would be the in-game Ranked system. Dota got its at the end of 2013. TF2? Middle of 2016, and before that it was in Beta for 5 months. People wrote literal ESSAYS on things wrong with the Beta and gave mounds of feedback on what the problems where, why they were problems, and how to improve it. And yet, nothing was done. If the Devs DID care don't you think they would have taken even a little bit of that information into consideration? Lack of blogposts is another good example. How long does it take you to write a response on this thread? 5 minutes? 10 minutes? It can't possibly be more then 15, right? Blog posts aren't much longer then that. It wouldn't take much of a Dev to write up a few words on what their up to and why. And yet they don't. Lastly, i servery doubt that ANY of the Devs have ever played a competitive match in their lives. Not a lobby, or a PUG or even watched a steam of a match. If the truly cared the would log on an alt. Load up Center of something, and do some real field work to see what that environment is like. Heck. They could organize some kind of mini event like "Devs vs Pros" or something. But no. Their busy bloating the game with more ugly cosmetics that people continue to buy for some reason. But you know what... Maybe their right. There's NO way a colorful, class based, objective centric, first person shooter, with surprisingly deep lore, a funny attitude and a strong emphasis on movement could EVER succeed as an E-Sport... That's just crazy talk...

yerb... valve is a business, why would they allow their employees to dump money in their own individual passion (ex esports). people
Not sure if serious, but if you are you don't know anything about how Valve operates. The individual passion of it's developers is what it's built on.

im pretty sure valve wouldnt let a tf2 major be decided by one tf2 team member. thats what i mean by dumping money into their individual passion. tf2 still makes a profit, so would half life 3, csgo, vr, whatever these guys work on itll make money. (i mean look how they fuck up tf2 by being incompetent but like i said it still makes a profit). if something was to not bring in money idk why valve would keep it. so to make money the tf2 team has to appeal to the general audience and like i said cant do strictly what we want (although i personally feel they are incompetent when it comes to competitve and show interest in tf2 as a casual shooter since it was what their pass developers succeeded in it being - not only money). :(
Several months ago valve released an update that made tf2 impossible to open because the update contained a misnamed file. It could be fixed by changing 1 digit in 1 file name. That means valve wrote the update and pushed it without once actually opening the game on a test machine. After that I have zero confidence anyone at valve gives a single shit abut tf2.

I mean the whole idea about how valve runs is that each dev works on something he's passionate about so I would've hoped it wasn't just about making numbers.

As much as i never thought id agree with alfa on anything cevo really did fuck up tf2's growth at a really bad time. Esea even had enough teams to make a main division lol.
Amarokyerbim pretty sure valve..... :(I mean the whole idea about how valve runs is that each dev works on something he's passionate about so I would've hoped it wasn't just about making numbers.
At some point one of them got passionate about making money when they started dropping crates into peoples backpacks and selling keys to open them... and the game was forever changed.
