I love when you scroll down it's Setlet there with the "OW is better for discovering new strats, TF2 has an established meta" comment, which is sorta true.
But then you realise Setlet wrote that comment.

I mean, yeah.
Tf2 and OW are two different games
One is a grass roots esports with an emphasis on movement and aim and skill
And the other one is a game where you wait to use your ultimate

Sadokist is a very enjoyable top CSGO caster, you should give the next Major a try, I personally don't enjoy playing CS:GO but watching the tournaments is always a joy.

As to why you should care, you shouldn't, it's mostly a feel-good post, I like hearing that important esports people know about my favourite [dead] game.

To be fair, its a free advertiser that we exist. Sadokist is a man with a big follower base

I've always been of the opinion that if what you want as a TF2 player is a source of income from a competitive gaming pursuit, you should just move to overwatch because the support is there. But if you're like me and it's more about enjoying what you get for the time you put in, TF2 is the no-brainer. I think anyone that's touched TF2 with decent net settings can tell that the gameplay is so tight and responsive compared to overwatch, and when you play enough to get familiar with the depth of the mechanics, and then the depths of the strategy, it's just so much more rewarding to play than pretty much any multiplayer game (let alone ow) besides maybe melee.
There's obviously some degree of bias, but if I'm trying to be as objectively critical as I can, TF2's core game design is way better than a LOT of bigger games, there's just unfortunately been few things outside of the game's code that have hindered it a lot.

honestly id prefer to have tf2 and its community as it is now than it become a multimillion dollar esport anyway
obviously people at the very top like banny would disagree because they want salaries to reward the intense work they put in, but most tf2, even very good ones have tf2 as a secondary in their lives
the people in that twitter thread(mostly randoms around 3k elo anyway) using arguments that tf2 is irrelevant just shows what happens to a community when it gets to big

well realistically making a sequel would likely be more feasible than undertaking the massive optimization, rebalancing, and rebranding that tf2 would need to really compete as a high end esport these days. tf2 has a serious reputation as a pub game and hat simulator on top of needing a lot of work anyway; and if valve really cared about making it into a profitable esport itd probably be more successful as a sequel rather than an improved tf2.

I agree tf2 should be treated like CSS and valve should just put out a 'sequel' which is more competitively viable, like CSGO was for the cs series. Remove unnecessary items, allow every player access to crucial weapons and revert some balance changes. Then price the whole thing at 15-20$ and add skins without ruining performance (maybe no hats to preserve the recognisability of the different classes). Finally, push it a bit as an esports and enjoy profit :) .

Csgo and tf2 are like brothers, there's actually alot dumb issues with csgo that valve neglect just like tf2. I've converted to a csgo player and it's actually alot of fun playing scrims and matches in Esea. I reccomend people to give csgo a try if your looking for a new "main " game to try.
I thought I was cynical but you guys straight up just beat me to it, I'm not trying to prove anything or anyone right, I'm literally, *in Offtopic*, linking drama involving manchildren whose careers completely depend on how "hype" a game is. It's just dumb fun. If you take this seriously, I don't know what advice to give you anymore.
