The VAC ban rule applies to TF2 related VAC bans, as FACEIT servers are VAC secure. You can play FACEIT with a VAC ban on a different game.

agreed discord fucking blows. However, the OP says you only need a discord account.
Are you required to use that piece of shit or can you just create an account and use Mumble for your team in the tournaments? I would hate to be forced into using a program that I don't want to use in order to play.

On the topic of using Discord:
We’ve chosen it as it is a free, easy option to manage all of tf2pl’s hubs in one place, for general and hub specific discussion and administrative related things.
We understand that many people have qualms about and even refuse to use Discord for various reasons, and we’re hoping to be able to help everyone make the transition by answering their questions on performance and questions on how to use the multitude of quality of life changes available in Discord’s various setting menus.
In normal situations, Discord should be a lightweight enough program to not adversely effect playing TF2

I’ve been doing some research online and I’m failing to see a need for concern regarding personal information

If there’s a real cause for concern please enlighten me, because what discord does with the information they collect does not appear to leave the realm of ordinary.

why does everyone hate discord, it's got like an infinitely better text chat system then mumble and the voice quality imo is just as good.

my only issue with is the little beep noise it makes and that you have to be invited to servers instead of putting info in. (you can't do that as far as i'm aware, idk i dont use it a lot, also is it possible to get rid of the beep sound when you use push to talk??)

Go to settings, Notifications, and uncheck PTT activated / deactivated.

voice is hella delayed and is worse quality
and a lot of people have issues with it
I currently drop packets to all the US servers for some unknown reason so my voice literally doesn't work on those servers

@Brimstone Discord does have legitimate privacy concerns but, instead, I want to draw attention to more practical concerns.
Firstly it is a worse performer than Mumble. It has higher latency, the overlay feature does not work with TF2 and consumes more system resources. If TF2P wants to be hailed as the ultimate competitive TF2 platform it's strange that that the mandatory VoIP program isn't the one that provides the most instantaneous communication. The lack of overlay creates the problem of voice comms becoming disorientating particularly for new players who may not recognize their teammates voices which can lead to frustration. "Uber me!" "Okay, here we go!" "I'm dead, why didn't you uber me!?" Furthermore, the increased system requirements alienates a small, but valued, playerbase who rely on every iota of their hardware to run a stable TF2 client which we all know to be increasingly demanding. see
Relying on a third party service for the livelihood of your own is not logistically sound. It may be decent now but as Discord matures there's no telling how reliable the service will be. A change in licencing, function, or policy you may not expect can easily cause grief for TF2PL later down the line. On the other hand Mumble is not a service but a tool. It's decentralized -- anyone can fork the program and anyone can host a server. Reliability is completely in the hands of the user.

Also Discord is an Electron app, so you know its bloated.
