Aim trainers as training for TF2

Do you believe using aim trainers like aimtastic or kovaaks actually help or are they just drills that don't translate to real skill?
Would it benefit me as a Scout main to grind an hour in aimtastic every day?

use it as warmup if you cant get into dm, its not a replacement for actually playing the game

u get out what u put in imo

knowing about the holes in ur gameplay (ie. poor click timing, shaky tracking, etc) and playing specific scenarios that
focus on those is a good way to overcome ur weaknesses. i definitely noticed a considerable improvement in my aim and consistency when i was rlly grinding kovaaks, id highly recommend it. that being said there are definitely some scenarios that are more beneficial then others, so id also recommend doing some research beforehand (theres plenty of guides out there that are a good place to start) and playing around to see what works best for u.

obviously this is all just from my personal experience, aiming is personal and there is no universal way to "git gud".

also kovaaks > aimtastic
kovaaks has an infinite amount of scenarios to try, and in my experience the aimtastic ones aren't that great

u would be better off playimg quake not tht its hard its just u use a variety of different weapons so it helps diversify ur aim style

ur not gonna be like a god even if u hit like 50% lg because a lot of tf2 players can do that but its just the fact that ur using all these weapons at the same time thats hekpful

Dippidy is right

The idea of only being able to get better by playing TF2 or Quake is boomer as all hell. If you're able to use a tool like kovaaks to put your body through as much muscle memory building as possible it will help. You're not going to get better at clicking on things by doing other shit like trying to learn how to move in Quake. You're also not going to get better by playing the shit kovaak scenarios that a lot of streamers play because it looks flashy. Put serious thought into what you need to improve and you'll improve

I play it when I'm home during the day and TF2 is dead. If you're grinding it when you could be playing inhouses/pugchamp/whatever you're doing it wrong. Even tf2center is better practise

Most of the gamemodes don't require any movement so it's good for aim warmup, but it's only focusing on 1 aspect of the many things you need to be able to do

idk if it's just me but even a week of playing an aim trainer for a whole hour a day sounds fucking miserable, I wouldn't even get past day 3

every 30 second drill on aimtastic is misery, but so is missing shots on targets standing still in tf2.

i never did play kovaaks that much but i did play about an hour of tr_walkway and tr_newbots when i was grinding rly hard

my aim got rly good, probably better than what it would have been had i spent all those hours playing kovaaks, but what do i know

I don't think aim trainers help with projectiles in TF2 at all. Hitscan might be beneficial.

Quit kovaaks 6 months ago. Bought a new car, I have an amazing girlfriend, I make a shitload of money and I'm buying a house this spring. I party every weekend, I'm never home. I'm enjoying life. Do yourselves a favor. Stop trying to make kovaaks a career. It's cringe as fuck.

i agree with trip kinda its not really to do with mouse control a lot of players have good mouse control and its not muscle memory its more ur brains/eyes ability to read movements and react which is also why u can not open the game for 3 years and still out aim ppl who play 24/7

however thats probably not the case for those ppl who aim and u cant even see wats on the screen cause its all wobbly

You could probably see very similar results by playing maps like tr_aim, and set the bots to scout speed. Plus the movement isn't exactly the same as tf2s in aim trainers. They're probably both good for training hitscan, only played two hours of kovaaks myself before refunding it.

i feel like the vast majority of people posting in this thread haven't actually tried playing aim trainers for very long, is it rly that weird to think ur aim can translate from one game to another? obviously u can get good tf2 aim by purely playing tf2, but to say that aim trainers aren't at all beneficial is rly uninformed.

at the end of the day u can click in one game or another and ur aim is bound to improve, kovaaks is an option for ppl in the same way that mge or dm is.
