Frequently Asked Questions (and answers)

A: No, there is no outside food or beverages allowed in the new LAN venue, but with this venue we have proper food & drink stands with more reasonable pricing.
Q: Do I need to be at the venue on the Wednesday?
A: Yes. It is recommended to set up your (rental) PC before 10AM on the Thursday! Rental distribution & pick-up closes on the Wednesday at midnight! There is also a required Team Leader meeting! Invite Group Teams are expected to show up for a media day.
Q: What do I need to bring to LAN?
A: We made a checklist with items you should definitely pack and bring to LAN.
Q: Can I sleep in a hostel/hotel/AirBnB somewhere else in Copenhagen and still use the shuttle buses?
A: Yes, going to the LAN sleeping accommodation will allow access to the shuttle busses with your LAN ticket.
Q: I have more questions not in this FAQ, where do I ask them?
A: Here in this thread or on the Copenhagen Games TF2 Discord where you can also look for teams/players and coordinate travel and offer to share (info on) accommodation.
Q: I need to provide a team name when buying a ticket on the Copenhagen Games website?
A: You can fill out anything there, the teams on Toornament will be used for actual seating.

List of random practical tips that have popped into my head regarding copenhagen:
Check the weather before you go, temps canbe anywhere from the first cpg where it snowed to the 20+ we had last year. dmi.dk is the official danish weather forecast and usually pretty acurate. BRING A RAINCOAT no matter what it says. Danish weather sucks and rain is usually combined with wind that makes unrellas pointless.
For navigating the city including public transport google maps is totally fine. You can use the app called Rejseplanen if you want to but generally google maps works just fine.
Get the app DOT Tickets on your phone and set it up before you go if you plan on using public transport. Buying tickets on your phone is waaay easier than having to deal with physical paper tickets. Denmark does have their own version of the oyster card but its pretty much exclusively for danish residents so if you dont have one already youre kinda shit out of luck on that one.
Dont buy alcohol that the venue if you can avoid it. Shits crazy expensive already and at the venue its pretty bad. Buy that shit in supermarkets instead (im not telling you to sneak it in but hey i didnt see anything). 16 yearolds are allowed to drink anything thats like 15% and under, 18+ for everything else.
PLEASE go spend some time in actual Copenhagen. City is fucking great and it would be a shame to miss it.
Do a bit of research beforehand if youre into food at all cause Copenhagen has some really good food if you know where to look (go to gasoline grill). Expect it to be on the expensive side though so if you dont wanna have things be crazy expensive all the time you should cook for yourself in any way possible.
If theres interest in actual sightseeing and stuff youre welcome to msg me on discord wan#5251 or someone else idfk
EDIT:
This travel guide is really well made and well worth the watch. Just dont expect to cycle around in copenhagen. The headache of learning all the rules etc and not pissing people off/being a danger to those around you is simply not worth it imo.

Another note about buying things at the venue, last year's event was completely cashless so you had to either use credit/debit/bank card or you had to deposit cash onto a card the event gives you. We only found out like a couple of days before the event last year so it's something to consider for this year.

Oh yea with the advent of mobilepay pretty much nobody uses cash in denmark anymore if it can be avoided.

Mobilepay is only for people with a CPR number, so make sure you have a card with contactless!

There is no 'Monitor only' rental available, there are a few others players in the Discord with a similar conundrum and only needing a monitor when bringing their own PC. Try to coordinate with other (Danish) players to rent/borrow their monitors.

For food I recommend when possible to walk over to the big mall if you have the time. Roughly a 10 minute walk but food over there was alot better than the trucks outside the venue (stay away from the kebab truck if it's there again).

lidl bakery is top tier as expected - also very good for danish plugs if you dont have an adapter

What are you talking about? The kebab truck was godlike if only a bit pricey but not by alot. I'd recommend the kebab truck to anyone who's willing to spend the extra money.

From discord if you haven't seen:
dalegaardYesterday the Danish health authorities activated their epidemic control laws. Among other things, this allows for the closure of any public event or gathering. The goal of course is to halt the spread of the COVID-19 disease, which, per the Danish health authorities, currently 10 Danish people have been diagnosed with, with a further 165 currently quarantined.
Currently Copenhagen Games 2020 still has the green light to go ahead, but given the developing situation we can't foretell if the health authorities decide to change their guidelines. We are of course monitoring the developing situation, and will keep you updated if the situation changes.
Because of the complex situation, we urge you to wait for further info for the next week or two, during which we expect the situation to become clearer.
The safety and well being of our guests is of utmost importance, and we take the current situation very seriously.
