can you explain what that video is supposed to be demonstrating? its afterburn. it ticks twice per second for 10 seconds. the flares disappear on surfaces with a very small splash radius, and on a direct they bounce and have a chance of hitting any burning player for a mini crit.

Did you ask people to rate the new maps compared to each other or did you ask them whether they thought certain maps were good enough to replace the old ones

solemn vow is a decent bit of info on player health, especially now that you can see if the medic is whiffing the arrows on the dude just behind choke standing still at 10hp. in team fights it'll be easy to tell if the enemy team is running kritz or correct uber miscounts, especially midfights and team fights where u have LOS on the other medic like 80% of the fight

This exactly, you people need to understand that literally the only thing that matters is the votes compared to each other. My team all though villa was the worst but didn't really like any of the maps so we voted them all low except reckoner like 3 cause it actually plays out decently and the euros like it and have tested it. I guess our votes didn't matter then? This dumb enjoyability shit you guys keep asking about is an awful way to decide these things just make it 'rank these maps best to worst' and then pick whichever one is the highest consistently out of people's rankings. Really think whoever is looking at these stats is extrapolating too much based not very much info. Release the full stats I want to see each players best to worst ranking and tally that up. Also the opinions on these maps were so widely varied between a pretty small sample size I have no idea why you didn't think 'lets ask the broader community about villa and see if they are okay with it, after all the lower divs have to play weekly maps so their opinion matters'

I should probably also say villa is in a pretty early stage of development and has a bunch of issues: botmode said it was their favorite map but agreed with me last needs to be reworked a lot and mid could use some changes as well. Apparently it got updated after the cup and we didn't even get to try that version up. Feels like this is all too rushed for no reason.

I've been asking to see a whole community wide vote between granary (and badlands!!!!) and whichever the most popular new map is for a while now (posted on the forum earlier, messaged boxcar and said it in the discord) but haven't gotten a single real argument against it besides them just basically not wanting to. Propaganda was removed from the poll bit it's being reconsidered now despite basically being the same too, it seems like it's literally just forcing new maps for the sake of being new. Really disappointed in RGL for yet again making rash decisions and not really consulting the community beforehand.

There's still time to do a survey and actually base results off a statistically significant population, whose opinions do matter even if they aren't quite as nuanced if they haven't played the map. ESEA always did a final vote between the new map replacing a map and the old map itself to make sure people were on board with actually removing a map.

Detonator unban is alright, but scorch shot is questionable, that gun so mega unfun to play against and so easy to use to just shred combos.

from the RGL Article - "some features such as the “Removes medic attach speed” portion of twikuu’s plugin are not being considered for Season 3" - This sounds to me like they are including the common sense bugfixes from twikuu's pack but waiting on some of the items that might affect game balance like med speed and soldier selfdamage changes.

I released an update to villa directly in response to complaints that second was too big and soldier was too weak from paddie, because he was pretty much the only person who stuck around immediately after the event. There is no way I could have anticipated this feedback and released the new update before the event, so it's unfair to make this accusation. I guess I do have a bit of an unconventional update pattern relative to most mappers, but I don't see that as a bad thing. B13A will likely not be the last version before the season starts. I'm probably going to be incorporating some of the feedback I received from you and botmode into B14. To anyone who has major issues with the map, post your complaints in the map's feedback thread.

It's really just not on you, if all divisions had the oppertunity to play on these new maps and put feedback into the league on what to change / not to change, it would be far better than the system implimented right now.
Putting changes into your map now is great- I hope to see it finalized and put into the TF2 pool. However, for most players- this will be a change that nobody wanted seeing it as they've never played the map before. You have to force these lower end teams to play the map and give you feedback.
I see this map as a cool concept, but for actual competitive play I think it needed more time to be considered- maybe if they tried to see if these map changes would be for S4? Perhaps if they did these testings before the season is starting (Maybe if they did it right after invite playoffs?).
Plenty of opposition goes along with this.
