MRfunnyalienyou pay roughly the same amount as esea to not have servers provided and to have much lower prizepools
https://pastebin.com/txzBynKD
for comparison 1st place esea s30 invite was 5000
1st place IM was 600
in rgl placing 2nd in main in s1 or 1st in IM was the same payout as winning advanced in s2
i understand weighting the prizepool to the top but this is very funny
rgl might have smaller prizepools but at least it really gives u that community league vibe, what with the admins making all decisions behind closed doors without consulting the players!
Nub_Danish5-9th place invite shouldn't be getting any prizes imo it discourages competition and help to enable the low-invite cirlejerk to continue to exist. I don't see why you'd want the same little cry babies who don't have a chance of beating froyo and don't even aspire to beat them to continue to take up invite spots rather than bringing in new blood who will at least improve and dream of beating froyo.
You might want to have 5-6 reimbursed for there league fees for placing that high each season, but paying out the 7-9th for just existing feels stupid af especially when the top advanced teams are probably better than or at least competitive with them.
the admins want the circle jerk to exist, because they ban players with invite exp from mainclassing in advanced and explicitly say that the best team in advanced should be worse than the worst invite team, even if spending a season growing in advanced and then going straight to mid invite is better :)

yea sorry sigafoo i get what you're saying but there is zero chance there is lan happening this season (didn't the post announcing s3 even say this) so wait until next season to charge people for 'lan sustainability'
in fact you should give people from s2 their money back and simply charge people in s4 more if that's the season lan is going to be, it makes no sense to charge people for some future LAN that might not even happen

pizza_fartlan fee is $3... guys...
its not about the money, its about the principle behind being charged for something that is not being provided.

moral dilemma as it really isnt expensive but i dont want to give money to sigafoo

I'm not really sure why this is a bad thing? If you are disappointed in the amount of money you get for being the best team in the 2nd/3rd highest division, perhaps you are playing tf2 for the wrong reasons. Why should the team that wins advanced, presumably the 10th best team in the region, make more money than the 9th-5th best teams in the region?
Just because you are in the invite division doesn't automatically make you the 1-9th best team in the region. In most ESEA Seasons there were better top IM teams than the lower Invite teams.
I would rather pay more to a team that fights hard to win a division, like advanced, than to pay some low invite team that just hung around to fill-out 9 teams and say they "played invite one season".
This really hasn't been true for a while now, the past few years invite (besides RGL Season 1 and dylans team last season) has def represented the best teams in the region.
PeteI believe the mentality for prize pool distribution to lower teams is that it makes the fight to become the 6th place team instead of the 7th place team actually matter a little bit
This would make a lot of sense if it were true, 6th-9th got the exact same amount of prize money last season despite there being a pretty sizable gap between the teams in each spot.

im pretty sure the argument here is there is no service being provided (no LAN) yet players are still being made to pay for it

Yes I am sure society would work very well if no one paid.
If you consume goods or receive a service you pay. If I get something I want to pay a fair value, just like I would like to get paid fairly if I sell something.
This has nothing to do with being rich and more with not being a child.

if RGL was a McDonalds and we payed the $3 but didn't get our fries my aunt would be driving back and yelling at sigafoo for 15 minutes about his terrible customer service. probably threaten legal actoin too
That whole Highlander team paid 14 dollars to get banned lmao
You could have typed the n word in a scrim and gotten banned for free

sort of a sidebar - but since we're all here airing grievances - are there any imminent plans to add value to RGL in the near-term?
- pug system?
- league stats (à la ESEA)?
- providing servers?

How does this make any fucking sense? $20 team join fee?? LAN fee???
Why am I paying TWICE for LAN when I already paid last season if you already used it to rent the venue? I remember distinctively that you said you already used the LAN fees last season to rent out a future spot with the venue. Does this mean that the LAN fees charged last season were not enough to cover for the event before the conclusion of last season? If yes, then very poor planning on your part, if no then why the fuck are you charging us money this season?
Sure am glad creating a team is free at least.

ngl fees are kinda expensive considering most people aren't working right now
Cant wait until someone tries to issue a chargeback for service not delivered.
If RGL wants to keep collecting thousands, a breakdown of the costs involved for the LAN would go a long way. I'm sure the community would be interested in a little transparency.
Unless RGL has a contract which specifically states that lan fees are non-refundable even in the case that lan doesn't happen (which maybe they have?), then they have committed fraud (at least in the US).

rgl might have smaller prizepools but at least it really gives u that community league vibe, what with the admins making all decisions behind closed doors without consulting the players!

charity is good but why are you asking for us all to pay extra money towards a LAN that isn't going to happen and has already been paid for, if you have extra money to donate to charity instead of paying out prizes....
a bit unrelated but why is it that every time you click a link on the rgl site your browser ponders the meaning of life before showing you what team youre playing
