Checklist
1. Temps for overheating.
2. updated drivers. (video)
3. secure connections (seated ram ect...)(reseat ram / video card / PSU connections)
4. Using only 1 of 2 sticks of ram at any given time or memtest the machine.
5. Update bios firmware.
6. Try another Power Supply.
7. Try a different Hard Drive.
8. Office space it and feel momentary relief then realize no internets D:
9. Well yea... new computer
I'm sure someone can add to my list this is just off the top of my head for your specific issue of freezing, which sounds like either the ram or hard drive is choking or the machine just isn't getting the power necessary. Which could spawn from loose connections inside the case to bad components. Power supplies lose 10% of their kick each year, i'm sure some of the better models and newer ones have come below this with technology. But this was one of the last ratings i heard from some technical classes for certifications.
Just my info though.
If you have access to a live cd Windows 7 PE or Ubuntu even. Burn to a disc with another machine. Run virus scans ( clamwin, avira ect... and malwarebytes )after loaded in to live cd. After scans are done, take out cd from tray and run normally.
Fixed. I forgot the reasoning behind private and doing invites. Updated permissions and other stuff as well for announcements mods can do everything. ( my bad been caught up in stuff D: )
I've been awol lately but i have been doing updates and other stuff. I just got hired on to a technology company :>
There is a 24/7 TF.tv badwater btw

My gaming time has gone into the ground T_T
I do know truktruk and some of the other streamers have been joining to play and gathering up every few nights.

He started bringing offerings and then plays with them all night. Waking up in the middle of the night hearing cries of some random creature / thing. D:
p.s. i didn't find out till later that the current offering was indeed playing dead. D:
Once you put in the components you just follow down the build list and it will do compatibility for you.
General checklist for low fps with source game. Any of these could be a possible culprit.
Vsync on? Turn off
Aero running? Turn off
Throttling possibly? Turn off cool n quiet in bios
Cpu limit? Overclock with amd overdrive to test settings then set in bios
Possible Drivers? Update or roll back to just before latest
Nvidia settings off? Check back to 1 and 2 which should be in control panel right click background nvidia ect....
If it goes further than that into gpu overclocking. Well there is always that. But those should generally do it.
There has been issues with the public server machine. There will most likely be a repair date set in soon. I feel there may be failing hardware which is affecting uptime, stability, and other factors.
Thanks,
Apollo
Hope you like ads or paying an extra $100 to get rid of them. Built in bloatware ooooo yeaaaaaa
Pretty much 100% of installing on a separate drive is doing custom install vs express or typical. The other option is creating a mount point.
The easiest way would be to make a folder in your main drive called "MyFolder" > Type disk management which will bring up "create and format disks" click on it > right click your already formatted and set in secondary drive with "change drive letter and path" > Click Add (make sure mount in the following NTFS folder) > Locate folder on the main drive the solid state drive and click ok. <~~~~ this can be used to manipulate the steam install, but you can choose where steam installs now with their updated client.
You have just made a mount point on your main drive to your secondary. So now when you do an install just install it into the mounted folder and it will install on the other drive.
Just as a general btw. Windows 7 installs typically take up to 20 gigs on start and with full updates and keeping up to date around 45-50. You will still have plenty of comfort with a 120 gig. Unless you are doing like a 2008 server which will need upwards of 80 gigs which includes updates. But that also does much much more.
