Ubuntu update broke something and made an instability. Will be working on it this weekend.
Hrmmm well, the board can only upgrade to an x6 for cpu wise. The gpu is fine. Ram / psu / maybe a 128 gig solid state drive?
pcppartpicker.com has a few different solid states for under $100 for 128 gigs then ram is cheap as well.
Technically you could get a second card but it would take up most the money and you would have to upgrade power supply. The only way to move up in cpu is mobo.
So if anything i would go with SSD/ram then maybe get some peripherals like mouse, keyboard, ect... if you need them.
Bio probly has the best suggestion for total increase in performance. But it depends on your budget.
I've been off for a while between different things. School and a job interview where i might actually have to work. *gasp*
Hopefully sourcemod and all that stuff is still functional, i've been trying to keep updated on it. The halloween event server is now 24/7 badwater. As for the main server should the rotation stay the same, slim, or change anything.
TeamFortress.TV
Current rotation:
pl_badwater
cp_gravelpit
cp_badlands
pl_upward
ctf_turbine
cp_foundry
cp_freight_final1
thinkSuck it ApolloniusX.
You do know what i posted was the reasoning why your post works right?
Then again i guess there is no need to explain why. My bad.
p.s. a few of those settings are default ;)
thinkI know it sounds crazy but try these settings for a bit and see if you still have any issues. I know, tech wizards out there, it doesn't make sense to use these settings, I know, but it has helped me before (I think, unless it was placebo). It can't hurt to try it.
cl_cmdrate 100
cl_interp 0
cl_interp_ratio 1
cl_lagcompensation 1
cl_pred_optimize 2
cl_smooth 0
cl_smoothtime 0.01
cl_updaterate 100
rate 100000
There really is not difference using 66 vs 100. Even using 100 for cmd/updaterate the packets just buffer and send the max rate the server can handle. Which is why in older hlds / half life 1 101 / 101 was always the pre-reqs. Some will say tuning cmd rate specifically (source / srcds) whereas leaving update rate 100 might have some differences. The stuttering itself could be caused by cl_interp in which interpolation from the server where players moving looks out of sync and crazy possibly extrapolating throwing off hit boxes, registry, ect... and making people look like a slide show / jittery. Even then it is a comfort thing for the player. Tweaking is done at risk since it does have a heavy effect on where your shots land, how the enemy (looks to be moving), and in other cases how soon you see him. So if player A has an interp of .015 15msec and player 2 has an interp of .03 30msec, player A would see player B slightly before player B sees player A. But if interp is too low this can also cause hit scan to be awful and completely inept on all accounts. Which is why pre-config'd FPS configs and others that do it for you can have a negative impact if the components are not up to snuff and numerous other factors. I advise no one to EVER look into net code and all the meanings. You will just get frustrated. Also depending on the server, they may have it min/maxed for you and you will never know.
On the topic. It sounds like you just need to up your rates or you could have loss (start > cmd > tracert IP ]Look for loss) / possible computer hardware issue in worst case scenario.

raw tuna, vanilla emulsion ( egg yolk, vanilla extract, touch of red wine vinegar, little salt, and oil ), bell peppers diced, and either kim chee or sirachi below. awwwww yeaaaaa
btw balut is awesome :D
Possible fixes other than qos? Dmz host your ip ( warning this means demilitarized zone ) aka you will be open BUT in other cases it helps connectivity. MTU transmission tweaking if at 1500 use a lower max transmission unit rate (1470 ect...). Change your channel wireless is on regardless because the default 2.4 ghz can be interrupted and affected by anything from a cordless phone to other miscellaneous signals(use 5 7 11 ect...). Router could be getting stuck on max connections or unwanted people on the network. Do you have your wireless network with a password so you aren't getting jacked?
The only other things besides this would be use a custom firmware update like DD-wrt or update your routers firmware if there is anything new available. This could fix things like the router overheating, bad p2p, and other miscellaneous stuff that wasn't optimized.
Found another bug, this update also breaks meta / sourcemod again :<
Someone told me there was an update, then nothing came back up when i sent them down for it. It then gave an error about the dedicated.so shared file not being found and turned into an endless crash loop until the file was corrected.
For Linux the brilliant minds of TF2 decided to rename a file breaking the startup of srcds_run.
To fix this after the update is completed goto your orangebox/bin folder and rename dedicated_srv.so to dedicated.so then start your server.
No idea why they decided to rename the file but that will fix it.
I'm 27 and i'm finishing a second degree. I didn't finish my first degree until i was 24 (i started back when i was 19-20 btw). I was working full time and refused to take loans or put myself in debt. Age has no relation to learning. Regardless of anything finish. You will have better odds in the job market, show that you are willing to "stick with it", and is 21 the new 52 or something?
You have far to much time ahead of you and people go to college / universities even at ages of 40+.
Get used to it. If you want to stay up with technology, ethics, and other things. You will not stop going to college. University will just lengthen out your process unless you are going for a higher degree. Abuse the shit out of colleges and their programs because going up just costs that much more.
I guarantee if you go off and work ditching it, you will feel even more behind when you either dead end or are getting passed up by the guys who did finish their stuff up.
P.S. In most fields a C is as good as an A. Know why? You passed and that is all that matters. Same goes with certifications. So what you passed by a couple points. You are certified.
You know most people would probly stab you for saying your comp is pretty bad.
For the most part the vid card. But depending on "some gigabyte mitx mobo" it could come down to your core as well. Regardless vid card would probly help if not just buying a second 6670 and SLI. The ladder would be to overclock or upgrade your cpu. But yea the vid card seems to be your culprit.
On second thought, what does it do in other games? Like fps for BF3 or something.
