RGL Disrupt-n-Draft Cup

The Disrupt-n-Draft cup is a one-day cup featuring the top 4 Invite teams, showing a quick preview of the talent going to the inaugural RGL LAN! Viewers have a stake in this cup as well, having the ability to donate to influence the game. All proceeds will go towards the LAN fundraiser, which helps cover any extra costs incurred by both players and production.

Picking will be done in the following order:

Total of 6 matches, 1 map per match except for GFs which is a best of 3. The map pool will be the current Season 9 RGL map pool. Matches will be played with a modified RGL ruleset, where there will be 30-minute maps with a first-to-five format and a 5-minute round timer.

$1: Play a sound bite on stream
$10: Insta-kill any player (doubles to $20 for the next 5 minutes on that player after it’s initially used)
$10: Random effect on any specific player for 10 seconds

$15: give a player uncontrollable jumping for 10 seconds
$15: low gravity on a specific player

Helix eSports Patriots Place is a great location with many shopping stores, dining places, and activities around the venue which can be viewed in the link above. The venue will also have bleachers for spectators, as well as the main stage for a better viewing experience.

Confirmed Dates and Structure of Tournament

The RGL LAN will be scheduled to occur on the weekend of August 6th to August 7th (Saturday and Sunday). This will be three weeks after the regular season to allow the playoff teams to prepare by booking flights and hotels. As it is being held on a weekend, it will be a two-day event. Day 1 will cover the first round and semifinals of playoffs. Day 2 will cover the lower bracket finals and grand finals.

Spectator Passes

Spectator passes will be sold at $20.00 at the venue and will be good for the weekend.

PC and Peripherals

32 Gaming PCs with monitors (headset, mouse, keyboard, and mouse pad provided to every setup as needed). Players are encouraged to bring their own peripherals. Players will be able to import a USB Flash Drive into the PC for custom configs and UI.

Cost

The cost of entry for Invite playoff teams will be free, including access to PCs during the entire two-day tournament. Spectator passes will be $20 for everyone else.

In this article, we would like to start discussing and communicating an early roadmap to the community for resuming RGL LAN. It should be noted that we have been in ongoing communication with Helix Esports, who is just as eager as we are to host our event, and we still hold our initial deposit. Here are important developments that we would like to share:

• New Venue - Helix Esports Patriot Place

Working with Helix Esports, we have plans to switch to a different venue from the original North Bergen, New Jersey location. The Patriot Place location is located in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Important considerations for making this change included the additions of the main stage, access to any rental computers for teams and staff (rental fees will be covered), streaming equipment/setup, stage setup, and bleachers for spectators. While the cost of the new location is more expensive than the previous location, we have plans to offset the costs through revenue splits with the venue, RGL merch sales, and small league LAN sustainability fees (we will provide updates on this in a future article). Lastly, the new location is also in a more friendly location with many stores and activities to do around the venue.

• RGL LAN for Invite 6s Playoffs in 2022

We do not yet have an exact date of this event, but after the Invite team leader meeting where we discussed a timeline that would be the most appropriate for this, leaders were strongly in favor of the LAN being scheduled during the summer of 2022. As such, we will aim to have the event held during the summer, as it would not conflict with school and other LAN events that players may have during the spring.

To be clear, there are no new "RGL ping guidelines". There are no new ping guidelines that create a limit of "110 ping" to NA servers.

This is an update to the Region rule by reverting it to a previous iteration of the rule that existed in RGL prior to the start of 2021 (the rule itself had existed since the beginning of the league). It is a region cap on the number of non-region players in the North American leagues for RGL (2 for 6s, 3 for HL, etc.). When RGL hosted European and Australian regions in its league, there were region caps on North American players participating in these tournaments as well.

I am assuming you are referring to the possibility of a captain choosing all the Medics (or of a specific class) during the drafting stage and causing the draft to be aborted. There will be different drafting styles, as well as checks to ensure that this does not happen.

As a notice, I encourage everyone to post feedback and questions in the discussion and feedback thread on the RGL forums, as this will be actively looked at by our developer team and staff. I cannot guarantee that I will be able to respond to all inquiries here.

This site does not only offer exclusive captain draft style picking as you see in PugChamp, but many other types of drafting systems that will be more inclusive to players that may not have a chance to get picked.

I would recommend people test their ping on the Iowa server. It's the most central location that is currently being provided of the three. Like DubThink stated, most people do get around the same ping to this location as they do to Chicago.

Definitely am excited. RGL being able to work with Qixalite to provide servers for the scene is positive. Hope the trial process will go well.
