rayshud v3.55 is out!

It includes the following changes:

-Fixed MvM scoreboard to not crash when tab is hit.
-Began adding in killstreak support.
-Fixed overlap of red team's name sometimes crossing over their rounds won column on the winpanel.
-Fixed users' ping not showing up due to their resolution being too low on the scoreboard.

You can download the update here:

About this update:

Nothing too special here, just a few minor tweaks and fixes. I was going to do a full-on killstreak-support update tonight, but due me not having a killstreak weapon to test it with, things will have to wait. Hopefully I'll be able to get it updated this weekend in full.

#6 hide hud bind in TF2 General Discussion

Hitting a button bound to hud_reloadscheme while having your scoreboard up has made the HUD disappear for as long as I can remember; at least as early as when I first started making my HUD last August.

While it might be a minor glitch/bug, I don't really think that it's game-breaking in any sense; if anything it's fun to play in "frag video" mode every once in awhile. If they took it out I doubt most people would even notice, but it would make me a little sad on the inside.

It's nice for surfing, too.

#7 Kill feed [Original hud] in Customization

If you edited the code in your hudlayout.res and your health and ammo disappeared, it usually means that you either are missing/have too many brackets in the code somewhere, (which look like { or } ), or you're missing a quote sign/have one too many quotes somewhere, which is making the code be read incorrectly, thus messing with the positioning and visibility of all of your HUD elements.

If you wanted to drop your hudlayout.res in a pastebin, I might be able to scan it really quick and see if I could find what's wrong with it.

Hope this helps. :3

shocka1When disguising as spy it does not display the class you are disguised as properly on the bottom left. Anyone else getting this?

By default it's turned off; if you use the installer there's an option to enable it.

If you manually installed it, there's instructions on how to enable it here:

AuraMixI'm really sorry for asking, but is it possible to add crosshair hud in? D:

If you mean HUD crosshairs, those are already present in the HUD. They can be enabled in hudlayout.res.

As far as the update that came out tonight is concerned..

rayshud v3.54 is out!

It includes the following changes:

  • Fixes the user not being able to see what spell they currently have in the Halloween 2013 event.
  • Fixed the ammo count of a player the user is currently healing displaying in the wrong location.

You can download the update here:

#12 TF2 HUD Repositioning Help in Q/A Help

Threw together a video for this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDtBX63PBd8

If anyone would be interested in any other types of HUD videos, I think I'm going to start making smaller, quicker videos that address questions such as this, so I'm open to questions. I was going to do a HUD workshop that addressed questions such as this awhile ago, but decided not to due to lack of interest.

#1 HUD Workshop in Customization

Hi!

Now that HUD editing has gotten a bit more popular, I've been receiving many friend requests/emails from others wondering how to do one or two specific things with or in their HUD. While I'd like to accept all of the friend requests, my list has gotten quite full over the past few months, and I've been struggling to keep up with them all.. So in order to alleviate the influx of requests/emails and potentially help a larger audience all at once, I've decided to do a type of impromptu-esque HUD workshop thing on my stream at some point in the near future (maybe this weekend?) where I'll essentially stream nothing but HUD-related questions for a solid time block (2-3ish hours, maybe?) By doing something like this, I hope to potentially clear up a lot of things to upcoming HUD creators/editors, and educate those that might have never had a chance to mess with HUDs before.

To speed things up a bit on the actual day of the workshop, I'm going to leave the rest of this thread open to both HUD-related questions that you've always wanted answered, and feedback on how I could potentially make things more efficient on the day I decide to do it. I know there are at least a handful of core things that a lot of people all want to know how to do, so hopefully I'll see a lot of names there.

In order to determine which questions I'll answer/not answer, then please provide feedback to me by +fragging a question you'd like to hear the answer to yourself. On the day of the workshop, I'll order all of the questions based on which ones have the most/least frags, and just go down the list. If I run out of time, then I'll either save the others for a potential future HUD workshop, or maybe see if I can make youtube videos on them later. If we make it though the entire list before time runs out, then I'll start taking questions from people in the chat until time runs out.

Also, don't worry about the level of difficulty of your question! Even if it's something as simple as "How do I even open HUD files?", I promise I'll do my best to make things clear! :3

ISFP

Introvert(67%) Sensing(1%) Feeling(88%) Perceiving(67%)

You have distinctive preference of Introversion over Extraversion (67%)
You have marginal or no preference of Sensing over Intuition (1%)
You have strong preference of Feeling over Thinking (88%)
You have distinctive preference of Perceiving over Judging (67%)

I've gotten ISFP every time I take this test. I know how accurately it fits me, but I suppose if it keeps coming up, it has to be at least somewhat accurate, right? :<

#8 HUD Text Cutoff (Can't Resolve) in Q/A Help

So I'm not at my computer right now, so these instructions might not be 100% accurate, but hopefully it'll lead you in the right direction.

Essentially the ammo's positioning is too close to the edge of the ammo frame (which Omni stated), so the solution would be to move the entire panel over a certain amount, then manually shifting all of the ammo elements inside of that frame over the same amount in an opposite direction.

In order to do this, you must first locate the ammo frame, which can be located in hudlayout.res. Once you have that open, search for "HudWeaponAmmo" I believe. From there, you can change the x/ypos of the entire frame, which, you'll notice will move all of the numbers associated with ammo. In your case, I'd try adjusting the xpos so everything is shifted over a bit to the left, maybe 50-75 or so units.

Once everything is shifted over, then you must open up your HudAmmoWeapons.res file, and manually shift over all of the elements (AmmoInClip, AmmoInReserve, etc.) the same amount to the right that you shifted the entire ammo frame to the left. This should move the farther away from the edge of the frame.

If anything is cut off on the right-hand side, it simply means that the ammo frame itself isn't big enough, which you can fix by changing the "wide" value of "HudWeaponAmmo" in hudlayout.res

Hope this helps. :3

EDIT: I also noticed that the number of needles in your secondary clip was cut off. This issue is a lot easier to solve than the main one, all you'll have to do is simply adjust the wide values of your "AmmoInReserve" and "AmmoInReserveShadow" or "AmmoInReserveBG" to be higher than they currently are.

IoxflashI'm having some problems with the hud.
http://imgur.com/a/8Qmfz
As you can see, my score board gets cut off. The HUD feels a bit larger as well, even though minimal mode is enabled. I selected the correct resolution and aspect ratio (1024x768, and 4:3). What can I do/modify to fix this?

As for the 4:3 issue with the scoreboard, it appears that the 4:3 files didn't transfer over properly, assuming you used the installer. This can be easily fixed, however. All you need to do is download the direct .zip file for the most recent version from GitHub, and take all of the files in the 4_by_3_ratio folder, and have them overwrite all of the files that are currently in place.

As for the wrong version of the HUD being installed, I couldn't see that in the album, but if the wrong version of the HUD actually is installed (and you used custom color on the HUD), then backup your ClientScheme.res (found in resource), then also in that same zip you downloaded to get to the 4:3 files, then open up the minmode folder, and install everything in that over your current HUD. Once you've done that, re-replace the ClientScheme.res file from before, and it should keep your color options.

Sorry for the trouble!

#8 48 Hour Child's Play Charity live-stream 9/27-9/29 in TF2 General Discussion

I got a message for this a long time ago from someone on twitch via the name "a_ham_sandvich". I'm sorry that I never got around to replying to it; I wasn't sure what my life would be like once in college, and admittedly it slipped my mind up until it showed up on the forums here again.

I won't be around for the entirety of the weekend, but I should have some free time to contribute from time to time. If you need someone to come in and play (or help out in any way), you're welcome to add me on Steam.

I'm sorry that I didn't ever get around to responding to the message, but I really hope that this event goes well. Charity live-streams are always a lot of fun, and the fact that they're for such a good cause makes it even better.
