It probably has something to do with the following undocumented change:
- Updated some weapons to the c_model system.
To understand what c_model is you need to understand what v_model and w_model mean. Essentially, there are (or were) different models that appeared in the worldspace (w), as opposed to ones that appeared as part of your viewmodel (v). Viewmodel weapons are higher quality, but aren't fully meshed or animated and only appear from certain angles. World models are lower quality and have simplified physics, and were necessary for optimization purposes when the game came out 8 years ago, but nowadays we have GPUs that can render higher quality models, and for the purpose of streamlining weapon creation, Valve started combining these models into c_models (c for combined) that were high quality and supported physics, but worked in both viewmodels and as world models.
This is why on Randomizer servers, some weapons appear semi-correctly in the hand of your class, while others show the hands of other classes. Weapons that show other classes are old v_models, while ones that look messed up but in your proper hands are c_models.
I suspect updating all of these weapons to use the new combined format has broken a lot of attachment points, hence why some weapons are broken and others aren't. For instance, the medigun and stickybomb launcher didn't have combined models prior to this update. Now they do, but those new models don't have all the necessary attachment points so they render weirdly ingame.
This fix won't be immediate but it WILL come. Hopefully someone from Valve sees this so they can fix this, if it's the exact issue causing this bug. Not sure why festive attachments are fully broken though, the scattergun always used c_models and it's broken for me.
edit: figured it out
the scottish resistance isn't broken ingame because it actually received a new c_model variant, without using attachment models. kritzkrieg never did, so it isn't loading the right model.

I don't think the skins' loadout models are supposed to look that huge, or transparent. I'd hope not, anyway.
Broken on a lot of huds right now, doesn't look like you're on stock so that's probably why

muppetAnyone else having an issue where their festive weapons don't have the festive lights ?
Mine have their specialized sheens but no festive lights, however I can see other peoples and pick up other people's festive weapons.
My weapons don't appear festive to other people either.
Happens with both scattergun and sniper rifle :(

Attachment models don't show up on both viewmodel and world model weapons. This includes attachment models like festive lights, which are a separate model that gets attached to the original stock model, as well as for weapons like the Kritzkrieg and Scottish Resistance, which use attachments onto the stock medigun and stickybomb launcher. This doesn't appear to be the case unique festives like the Huntsman and Ambassador. This bug doesn't happen to all players. Some players also cannot see botkiller attachments, while others can but they can't see festives.
deetrDid you switch to dx9 or are you on the same dx level you were before the update? Seems kind of insane to close to half the framerate with one update.
keep in mind the whole item drop system means more ragdolls to track/calculate, skins on weapons are complex to render if they're really using a bunch of different offsets, and players that may have not used outlines are now having to do that
plus huds havent been updated so broken huds might be causing performance issues from errors
CricketI am 100% sure they changed the arc when the big update came, I also heard starkie talk about it on his stream. But im glad they fixed it now.
Hey man, I never said I didn't believe you, just that I didn't experience it on my server and so I don't think it was game-wide. I think it was one setting that I may have had set differently that was causing it to not show up on mine. It's still a bug and I'm glad it's fixed.

I mean I didn't notice it when I first got the original update and tested that hours ago. If they fixed it unannounced in the most recent update, all the better.
StagI always crash when trying to create a specialized kit, and m,y friend also crashed when trying to inspect it too.
They replaced inspect item with a 3d preview of said item. Maybe the old inspect item is now trying to load a 3d render of a model that doesn't exist and that's causing the crash?

It's not Source 2 though. Custom UIs work too well for it to be Source 2. The 3d model previews are cool but they aren't new, they already used a similar preview for your loadout page. All they had to do was embed it in a new panel and voila.

glad to hear the crashes have stopped
as I read this, the server I was on switched to Snowplow. All terrain was wireframed and all props were Source error models. The game crashed when it tried to load the train model when the round started

TimiAll stock weapons look more detailed, even with detail model set to lowest. Previously all weapons looked polygoned, alot.
Now all stock weapons look very circular, but all the other weapons looked polygoned.
Its either the model detail doesnt affect the stock anymore, or they increased their detail in purpose just for the skins.
probably lod issues with all skinnable weapons, probably not intended
