ngl i just really wanna go to a lan and see all the other degens that play this game and just do some irl pugs. and i am wondering if there are any small cons that might be willing to host a lan. or just a any places that would be down to host one like the esports arena in Arlington tx
there's no way a LAN is happening any time in the next half year, and a realistic time frame would be at least a year away. tf2 isnt worth ppl dying over lmao
it'll be at least summer of 22 before it's safe, based on the average age of tf2 players, vaccination schedules, and the average hygiene i've witnessed at prior lans
give tf2 notoriety by setting off a superspreader event pog
capnnofapnwwat if we bought really long ehternet cords
okay but like REALLY long
okay but like REALLY long
i went to rewind lan and it was pretty neat just chatting with different people and playing pugs but i am not going to lie some tf2 players smell really bad

actually nuts you posted this as an actual hypothetical thing we could do not just like "man i miss tf2 lans"
hate how our country cant get its shit together and actually take this seriously and everyone is just on their own to decide how much they wanna isolate

I miss LANs just as much as anyone here, especially now that they are feasible for me.
The idea of doing more frequent local LANs or PUG meetups was tossed around when we did the small LANs in Toronto back in 2015, obviously not materializing. In hindsight, venues like Hunter & Lucas and Raiders/Hive would have been good places to do it. There are still venues like those two around in Ontario and the NE USA, so it's definitely doable, or we find a church basement that'll have us every few months where we can hijack the LAN.
Biggest obstacles to any TF2 meetup is what time of year works best for people, and avoiding conflicts with dates of larger events be it online or in person.

Like hello? The biggest obstacle is the fucking global pandemic that's killed 500k people in the us alone, does that fact just not exist in some people's heads????

on the topic of the thread smaller local lans are cool, I went to a tiny little one day thing in boston way back in like 2014 or so (all i remember was deer and papasmurf being there) and it was fun
the real move tho is to just meet up with the online homies except just hang out and not play video games lmao

Can confirm, have been on holiday with the mumble boys a couple of times now and it was incredibly fun. In a different way to lan though, sometimes you just can't beat lan.

maybe, global tf2 lan to mix all the different covid bredes together, this should (hopefully) create a new covid variant and put tf2 on the front page of the news again. With all this publicity we can keep doing new and bigger lans to make more deadly and interesting variants of covid?
I'm bringing the boys and some ten different variants from here let's do this
you bastards better start taking showers and wearing deodorant so we don't get the smash reputation
I made a whole ass LAN checklist back in like 2019 and it's gone COMPLETELY UNUSED
The sociopolitical climate of the tf2 community is completely different from what it was then, idk if I can get away with some of the things on the list if I have to wait unt 2022
