With or without changing what it's already established? Maybe a revert of the DR/Ambassador would help, as spy was already the worst class in the game at that point. What buffs do you think makes this class more useful? Or what do you think spy should change into?
edit : maybe a subclass item thing that would give the spy 150 hp but the backstabs only deal say 150 damage and his gun or cloak is buffed.

A slight revolver buff would be cool cuz it would give you another option to work with if the enemy has caught on to your presence.

make it so that the medic moved at 100% speed and/or couldnt leash a scout and we can stop arbitrarily creeping everyone elses speed up in tow, that way he can line up backstabs and the rest of us who arent scouts can get on with playing the game
speeding up the spy was like putting a band-aid over a gangrenous wound

Mayhap some kind of class merge? Like a sniper/spy class? Has a revolver secondary and the ability to cloak and sap but also a sniper. I honestly think this would change the meta of TF2, having a class that can cover so many niche options but still they are ultimately niche.
The class would be balanced by having the shield and revolver slot be the same slot, and the user of the class has to fucking kill themselves that stupid sack of shit. Fuck you.

Why would anyone want this? How is it good for the game for spies to be able to 2-shot every class except heavy? Besides, the class is clearly not meant to be a strong midrange combatant. Good riddance.

that shit barely ever happened and if it did it was the most impressive thing that you could do in the game. ive never once felt that dying to that was OP and i was always impressed if i was headshot by that thing, and this is coming from someone who has like 20hrs of spy in the past like 8 years.
i never heard this sniper spy argument before valve actually did it and really i think its just a HL thing, but id much rather something be balanced for pubs rather than HL. hierachy should go 6s, then pubs and then lastly HL because everything else is just more valid of a gamemode
102 isnt even a lot of damage you could apply this same shitty argument to pipes fall off
HL is now the only space where spy exists in the class only because the concept of that gamemode is that you just have to play it. if you're playing spy in a pub, 100% every time you are better off playing/doing literally anythng else

Give him a watch that allows him to teleport a short distance in the direction they're looking by right clicking rather than turning him invisible.
Pros:
- Cool movement
- Would immediately be banned in all competitive modes due to being broken so u wouldn't have to deal with it
- Edgy pubbers would lose their fucking minds and because you can literally teleport behind people and so more people would play the class, thereby buffing it.
Cons:
- You will receive the funny backstab when playing pubs
Alternatively u could give him a trebuchet so he could launch himself at people or maybe some sort of fart attack which does poison damage to nearby players and propels himself upwards. What do u guys think?

Doesn't explain why it's good for the game, nor does that counter my argument as to it's not what spy should be.
Valve added lots of unlocks to deal with the "weaknesses" of a class that actually make the game worse, like original GRU. The original design philosophy of spy clearly does not intend him to be a marksman capable of damage at long range.

Firstly did you even play competitive pre-nerf? Secondly it's not necessarily OP it's just that it's dumb and the niche it fills shouldn't exist for spy.

yeah i was loosely playing competitive HL and 6s slightly before i49
spy in its current state is a class that just gets trampled on by everything for the slightest glimmer of decloaking behind a med and insta dying, often times dying waaayy before even getting that opportunity. when you are playing this in a pub, that shit is obviously meaningless, so its really hard to understand why spy mains exist if not for some sort of nostalgia for what the class was.
its not my thing at all, but this class is one of those unique aspects that tf2 has over other shit and doesn't deserve to be objectively worse than every class at every aspect, including getting high priority picks which is supposed to be it's niche
you can't really say it has a niche as it is stands because the only thing it has over other classes is sapping sentries, and then i guess dying directly after by anything that so much as glimpses as you, but im sure in this case you would rather just play demo and then be able to defend yourself after lol
i just dont think there was anything wrong with it. there were times i was thinking it was actually not powerful enough because sometimes you'd hit some crazy shit and still not get the kill. without the capability of being effective at range its a shit class
i fully understand how stupid sniper/this ambi shit is in HL, but its a stupid gamemode to begin with. its built on stupidity, trying to be competitive whereas its understood and expected a pub will be stupidly random

What people fail to realize when arguing about how the spy is basically a sniper when the ambassador wasn't nerfed was how much space spies were given a few years ago. The HL meta that has existed the past few years is the entire team spychecking during any downtime instead of trying to take map control because teams realized that sniper is the best class in highlander, and killing spy is an easy way to support your sniper. Before that, yes, a spy could hypothetically sit far behind the other team and hit 102s. Not easily. Typically not very effectively. But it was allowed to happen because nobody would really chase the spy that hard other than the pyro (that wasn't using detonator/scorch to aid their mobility).
Today's highlander meta relegates scout/soldier/engie to chasing the spy at any time that there isn't an active push occurring. Spamming the ambassador would probably not be effective because hitting bombing soldier or a 185hp scout in the head twice, you would probably be more impressed than angry. There are so many more things that are far more annoying and difficult to play against in HL - battalion's backup, cleaver, wrangler, detonator, fists of steel. Reverting the ambassador nerf would not be overpowered by any means. The game has evolved enough that people know to just walk at the spy if he's doing that shit and the class is very frail because the dead ringer is pretty dogshit now.
