this workaround dead for anyone else? whenever i change the lod bias or the supersampling option it disables the other option.

A similar effect can be achieved on linux using https://www.teamfortress.tv/55182/how-to-do-the-lod-thing-on-linux. You can get more extreme values than with NvidiaInspector/RivaTuner but they can mess up the sniper scope depending on what setup you have and which picmip value you use.
