I've been watching f1 actively only since last year and this was the craziest race I've ever seen. I've never been so excited watching a sport in my life.

Pirelli are actually going to kill a driver in the up-coming years if this shit doesn't stop. Lance and Max got mad lucky

MoermanBeen watching f1 for only few months now.
Just a quick question to some veterans here.
Why does the organisation completely reset the lead and time behind that racers have when the safety car gets involved?
Why dont they let them restart at begin and finish the laps, taking into account the time between each driver right before the crash or whatever?
Its so weird to see someone's lead being completely gone after a random event somewhere across the track
You want the field to bunch up together on 1 part of the track so there is a period of time no cars will be on the section of track where the problem is, so the marshals can go clean things up safely
Also it's more fun

The virtual safety car does what you're thinking of, cars all go the same 'safety car speed' from wherever they are on track, so the gaps are maintained.

Yeah never thought I would say France of all places was a good race without rain, holy shit. Also, Lando is up to what, 12? Consecutive points finishes now? Hes actually insane, really hope Mclaren gives a him a title challenging car in 22.

Last time F1 had a better race around Paul Ricard was 1990.

So happy for Danny Ric to finally have a really really solid race. His smile was back after too, you can't ask for more

yeah it was a pretty good race, I kinda forgot my own thread existed
I happiest for Perez. After being dumped like that he's really found a place where he can prove his worth, his efforts are highly appreciated and he even gets to bring home silverware pretty often.

Bar merc shitting the bed and not finishing in points the next 3 races this won't happen. Even if Max and RB take the title, Bottas is still good enough to provide placing for merc to stay 2nd and challenge for 1st and even though Russell is very good, swapping mid season might cause too much chaos and as we have seen merc isn't that great when there is chaos and they are not the solid #1. Also avoiding a Hamilton/Rosberg situation is probably their top priority.
Although it would be super sick to see HAM/RUS this season I can't see any moves being made until 2022.

???????????????????????????
thats taking the absolute stunning nature of F1 pitstops completely out of the sport
it also makes undercuts more difficult!!!! imagine if vettel's pit stop in monaco was forced to be slower according to this rule change, he wouldnt have overtaken gasly and hamilton in one go

absolutely shocking from a viewer standpoint this just seems like actually having the best pitcrew and training/preparation in that sense is meaningless now

Safety in F1 has been one of its biggest strengths sincer the turn of the century, this however, is one step too far imo.
