What do you like/dislike about cp_granary?

So for this year's Summer, I will really have nothing planned.
I don't have a TF2 Team to play on.

So I decided to start a mapping project:
A remake of cp_granary.

Tell me, TF TV; what do you like/dislike about Granary?
The more details, the better!

EDIT: Also, would you like me to tweak Granary or make a whole new map?
If I tweak it, that would only take a *few* weeks.
If I make a whole new map... x_x

Its a pretty good map. I'd like dropdown to be a tad wider and the hallway to dropdown be larger and less cluttered. Could be a cooler feature of the map :P

EDIT: this is only if you are really gonna fuck with the map and not just fix bugs and shit.

My only complaint is that the floor of the map is the same throughout. Kinda boring that it's so flat.

2nd always seems like one big clusterfuck. Maybe open it up a bit to give players more room to move? Might also fix wiping at mid being an insta-lose by making a medic force not impossible.

2nd is probably one of the worst points in a 5cp map for scouts. That being said, I've noticed that a lot of scouts don't take advantage of the litle ring around the support pillars. They're actually quite useful for jumping around on in order to dodge rockets and shit.

I think dropdown should be widened just a little bit. A more accessible dropdown would help reduce the time of those yard to shutterdoor/2nd stalemates.

In my opinion, the left entrance to mid should be a lot wider and maybe even taller.

I'm not really a fan of the mid with scout. With soldier/demo/medic, I have no complaints about the mid. Then there's the potential stalemates that occur more often than anyone would like. People might not like it (I don't know), but the pro version of Granary with the opened choke looks like it would be a whole lot more effective than the window. The window helped but not to the extent that I feel the opened choke would. Last point is a pretty good last point IMO.

i like this a lot, it looks like it'll make mids a lot more survivable for meds

Since everyone is mainly talking about what they hate, what I like:

All the little spots all over the map that you can use. Most are probably due to the lack of mapping experience for TF2 initially (maybe?) but I like all the little hiding spots that you can use.

on red team, sometimes people spawn on the left side instead of the right side of the spawn. its especially gay when it happens to your medic.

It's even worse when you have a medic who has attended lan but does not have a kill script.

Practically speaking you've got like... the one by 2nd point forward spawn on top of the silo, the one in right yard above garage, and if we're counting obvious one then the one under the deck by garage. The ledges and lights are neat but not very useful, except for the one over garage on mid-side. Unless you just meant tucked away areas like lunchbox or left upper over second? My bad if you did.

Things I like.. I like the inside of the second point. The little ledges on the beams are cool, and I love jumping over the crates when pushing in as pocket going THIS IS HOW FRAG VIDEOS START even if I wiff all my shots.

I've actually been working on an actual fixed version of granary for a few weeks now, since the only other version has cubemaps broken and the author isn't really working on it.

I've fixed red and blu spawns and corrected the worst asymmetry issues already, like the walls on last and the silos on second. I plan to release it within the next week or so depending on whether it would actually be useful for people to use or not.

My thing is, I'm not attempting to make a remake of granary...I'm just trying to fix the problems that make granary odd or slightly unbalanced to play. I'll be looking over these posts to see if there is anything else small that I could change and I'll update you guys when I get a finished version.

I'd like you to make the forward spawns on second the same. Currently there is the one on RED with the opening where a soldier can shoot into and the BLU side which is closed off. I have no real opinion on which one is superior. The BLU one is better if you want a pro version but I find it hilarious that you can kill an unaware person in forward spawn.

I've clipped and blocked the opening off so you can't shoot/get into the spawn. Suggestions? If enough people support the idea/changes I might be able to get this to replace normal granary in some leagues so be adventurous. I won't be making any drastic changes but any and all bug/asymmetry issues I'd like to address.

Its not that its completely broken. but one complain i have about granary is that its a bit too chokey pushing into/out of mid if both teams are up with uber. Also if u get wiped on mid 90% of the time with good team its a given round cuz the points are 2 fast to get too and a straight roll into last if cards are played right.

Just throw some low-power noise over the ground, granary is simply too flat IMO.
