Some guy recorded himself playing a couple full rounds showing off most of the classes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVfZ6Af6e50

Nice to finally see the game in action. Feels like it's a bit hard to keep track of what's going on during big fights, but it may just be the awkward camera config. I do like how team fights apparently make up the majority of the game, feels like 6s in that respect. Although I really hope they wind up offer a way to change FOV and custom crosshairs because the default looks super cumbersome. What do you guys think?

Wish they would have stayed one hero long enough to actually use an ult lol. It looks kinda fun though at least. I'll probably give it a shot as a casual game. Movement and stuff is really slow, but if you want a more hardcore arena shooter you can just play UT 4 I guess.

Wholegrainviewmodels are too fucking big

I thought TF2 was bad with viewmodels. I only had to see like 15 seconds of this video to realize that not just viewmodels, but everything's bad. FOV is way too low, viewmodels take up 3/4 of the screen, and there's way too much going on visually. I'll try it, but I'm not sure if I'll like it.

At least we still have Dirty Bomb as far as new comp shooters go.

If you think that's bad watch this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUfd-1JhXxo

- dark, unsaturated map
- bright pink particles all over the screen
- linear chokepoint design that forces people to clump
- massive AoE ult that clumps, stuns enemies
- build in grenade attack, DONT EVEN HAVE TO COMBO WITH TEAMMATE LOL
- slow moving enemies that have no hope in avoiding that

But yeah Overwatch game of the century next esport 11/10

Remember, Blizzard said the massive view-obstructing viewmodels are a balancing feature, not a bug. Your chances of getting a viewmodel_fov option are even more non-existant than getting a normal fov slider.

fov annoys me, viewmodels annoy me, all the flashy shit (particles / hud-related) annoys me, the slow pace annoys me

i'm probably out of line here, but i have the feeling that blizzard is just too far outside of their zone, by making a multi-player FPS.
obviously they're still pulling something off, but that's just because it's blizzard.

what i mean is that the way the game looks just makes me feel like it would suit a casual single-player fps game, but not that much a (competitive) multi-player one..

I mean, they're not releasing the game yet-it's still in beta. In probably most games, things like the fov/viewmodels/ui are changed in the beta. I won't fully judge until it's fully released.

I'm betting 90% of casual players won't care, and that's their target demographic. The only difference is that Blizzard will probably care about the comp scene like Hearthstone (comp is casual here though) and SC2.

Ok I think you should AT LEAST be able to see the person you're shooting WHEN YOU'RE SHOOTING HIM

The viewmodels are already WAY too big but when they're firing they basically hide the entire screen, including some of the crosshair. This is not how you make a competitive shooter.

When she reloads literally half the screen is covered by the viewmodel. No thanks.

I think almighty Blizzard can think of a better balancing feature than "make it so nobody can ever see anything". That's just stupid.

FOV is definitely an important element of many shooters, including Overwatch. For clarity, Overwatch currently has a fixed vertical FOV of 60. This means that at 16:9 (which most players use), you'll have a horizontal FOV of about 92. To answer the "will there/won't there" question directly, though, there are no plans at this time to implement an FOV slider to the game. The rationale here is that we want to avoid creating a situation of "Haves and Have-Nots," where those who are aware of the slider are able to gain an advantage over those who aren't. Instead, we'd rather develop towards a unified FOV that feels good across the board. Aiming preferences, viewmodels, dizziness, nausea—these are all factors we considered when designing the current FOV and will remain sensitive and very open to as testing continues. Hope that helps!

im fine witht hat but it doesnt really explain why they chose 92 instead of 100 or something that would feel better

Mr_Owl—these are all factors we considered when designing the current FOV and will remain sensitive and very open to as testing continues. Hope that helps!

This is the important part of that quote people.
If your biggest/only complaint about Overwatch is the FOV is too small or there is no fov slider, firstly wait till its actually in open beta (which isnt gonna be for months so you can safely assume a lot is gonna change) and see for yourself and then once you've actually played it complain about it until they fix it, which you can also assume blizzard will actually listen complaints from its beta players.

As for the chunky viewmodels presumably a larger FOV will make them less annoying and if that doesnt work kick up a fuss on their fourms once you have played it yourself about being able to adjust the veiwmodel fov until you get a response. If they refuse to do anything then dont play the game.

And while I can understand some of your arguments, declaring you wont even play this game when its so far away from you actually having a chance to play it and there is going to be so much more development done on it seems absurd to me.

TL:DR at least 6 months before open beta, things will change, why not give it a chance before you write it off completely.

Making noise can help change things before it becomes close/open beta.

Oh I agree completely I just have doubts that people from blizzard are scanning though TF.tv threads for this kind of feedback considering virtually no-one here has played the game and that b4nny had to explain to the devs at the overwatch event the concepts of comp 6v6 tf2

Did it take the archer one second to charge a one-shot-one-kill arrow? It literally did 200+ dmg. Also dm/dmg(pharrah) class has less hp than a pick class(reaper) class? What is wrong with this game? What is wrong with hp and damage scaling? Why are they trying to invent a bicycle? Couldn't they just take tf2 model and balance it around, add classes and game modes.
