ARE YOU KIDDING ME

Why is this passing for education? unless this kid just missed the lesson, or is Communism being perceived as a good thing in schools? Don't let your kids make videos comparing welfare and Communism... or just videos at all.

Even if im an idiot and i got some facts wrong, this video is still pretty entertaining.

edit: i originally thought it was just how it was being taught, but the video is still pretty enjoyable b/c of how passionate he was.

Communism is kind of an utopia. I don't think the ideology is really bad (especially in the eyes of a kid it probably sounds great) and you're quite overreacting.

Communism is great on paper, and it should sound like a great idea the first time you hear about it. It's only by looking at actual communist governments (which this kid probably hasn't done yet) that was recognize the fatal flaw: it's a power vacuum, and true communism as Marx imagined never lasts.

Alright something I've been wondering for awhile.

Could you rank these communists

Lenin, Marx, Stalin, Trotsky, Mao

Hmm... That's a somewhat complex question and I would probably go this way if I had to:

Marx is obviously first - despite a few trends that he missed due to the world of his day, and his inattention to practical affairs.

Lenin is #2 because he fleshed out Marx's analysis of the state, and how it functions, as well as how Marxian groups should behave in response.

Stalin is easily above Trotsky - as most of what Trotsky *actually* wanted for the USSR was far more negative than most of what Stalin actually did. Trotsky benefits somewhat by having not actually done all that much, once state power was achieved, besides being exiled - and then complaining a lot about it.

Then Mao - if nothing else than for his penchant for not doing what Stalin wanted him to do - and carving a path for independent action (from Moscow). Also his writing on how to execute a guerilla war is still a standard textbook throughout the world (including the US) so that's gotta count for something.

Lastly Trotsky - as I mentioned previously, most of what he actually wanted for the USSR was demonstrably worse than what Stalin actually did - there's a reason Stalin won out in the end despite being a non-charismatic and often disagreeable fellow. In spite of Trotsky's contributions, militarily, during the revolution.

I mean, IMO communism already passes the first and most important test that a lot of other systems of government fail - it's about the people, fundamentally. It's about ensuring that everyone lives as good a life as possible. Does it actually accomplish that? No, it doesn't seem to. Not any form of it that we've tried. But it intends to, and that makes it better than something like fascism, which is entirely about the state, or monarchies or oligarchies or plutocracies, which are entirely about the richest members of society.

Communism is bad on paper it assumes a utopia where everyone works just as hard and no one has aspirations of grandeur. If humans were like this and all worked just as hard and were just as valuable to society it would be great. The reason communism and socialism is favored so much more heavily by young people rather than old is because it's "free stuff" and the older people have generally already worked for their stuff. You don't deserve stuff simply for existing and people who contribute more to society should be rewarded.

Marxist Marx is obviously first - despite a few trends that he missed due to the world of his day, and his inattention to practical affairs.

But wasn't Marx just a socialist? Communism was the extreme form of it carried out when Stalin took power, because Lenin could never get it into full effect. To me, Socialism, is a more logistical version of Communism. Or at least that's what it seemed like in past societies.

And if you want to count them as the same thing, the Sweden would technically be a Communist state, since their government is a refined version of socialism if im not mistaken.
