looking at the beta it seems pretty damn cool also noticed they put your profile name where your account name used to be. Definitely a bit more streamer/youtuber friendly in that case.

I hope there will be an option for a small icon mode or something for the friendslist though, can't quite just eye ball my friendslist anymore if a bunch of people are online.

-remove the Online (Blue that it currently is) / Busy (Lighter Blue/doesn't seem to be an option in the beta UI anyway though) / Away(Dark Blue it currently is in beta) / Offline(Gray) text and just use a color scheme for it

I don't see how that's an end. It's obviously not supported at this time, but I would expect Valve to add official support for customizing CSS so that it isn't replaced at a later point.

google document links are still deleted;

friends categories are still there, but it's still not possible to order them. They are alphabetically sorted, and that's it. Besides they always appear below the new friends-in-game thing.

My FPS increase is only single digits, but I do notice the much lower usage of my CPU while idle.

Agreed on the lack of options sucking but even if they don't add the options to change that you can CSS edit them away anyways (just have to re-apply it after every update).

Already unusable, message windows blink and then disappear and can't be reopened from a specific person on my friends list. Super annoying when I'm actually trying to actively talk to that person. Guess I'll remain on the old client until it's actually fixed.

I never bothered trying this until today when valve apparently decided to make this the official client.

why is everything so laggy and how do i get my friends list to sort my personal grouping tags above the automatically generated who's playing what game groupings

edit: start steam with -nofriendsui to not have the new ui for the friends list at least

this isnt the whole redesign, im hoping the performance issues will be fixed when they revamp everything else. but maybe not who knows

and this is the pull request that added beta support to my skin, it looks like its pretty easy to ensure everything but your friends menu is still skinned. no guarantee it works on your skin, idk which of those colours and stuff are defined within air
