are there any good tf2 alternatives to resurfed/rehopped or do I actually have to start launching cs:s now?

not public yet, but it's heavily in the works. plenty of TF2 jumpers have been testing maps so they got keys

you can compile it yourself if you really want to play it, there are docs on how to do it. you just can't use the online functionality without a key

afaik one or two people are already interested in running the resurfed and bhop servers with the old database themselves
play css (better movement than tf2) or play momentum
Sad that it's closing down, was fun while it lasted.

really hope this ends up happening

Honestly as someone who has played thousands of hours of bhop on cs:s what real reason is there to bhop/surf on tf2. It just feels so much better on cs:s
i don't have cs:s and idunno if i can justify the 10 dollars just to surf

there are certain tricks you can do on tf2 that you can do on css, its the reason you will see top 10 runs utilizing crouch boosting
theres a skip on badges that you can hit on tf2 than you cant even dream of hitting on css
+ the reason i spent so much time on rehopped, getting prs and wrs is because i preferred the community there, plus its a lot more relaxing imo; though css has low grav bhopping adn that is just so wholesome and relaxing to goof around on

its opinion on what game feels better, past that a ton of people do surf/mge/jump/dm as warmups or time killers while waiting for pugs/scrims, and its super annoying to have to launch an entirely different game just to surf, and then have to launch tf2 if you want to do anything that isn't surfing

Why practice movement in a game outside of the one you compete in? If you're just playing movement mods for the sake of it, I agree cs:s and going forward momentum mod will be the way but so many people surf/bhop/jump in tf2 to refine movement skills for competitive play.
if there isn't an alternative in a month I'll look into hosting so bobby doesn't cry. Is the database public or does someone already have an archive?
ps i could not admin something like that. I'm too immature and also busy but I would be happy to handle server stuff. If people trusted in the surf community would be interested in admining that would be appreciated

all my surf times r in tf2 and the servers are split by tier which is nice
idk about bhop but css surf and tf2 surf almost the same

by that logic why surf at all all when you can't surf in competitive play especially since you can make tighter turns on surf servers than you can on a comp server
surfing in cs and and momentum is 90%+ transferable to tf2

This is a narrow minded view of how movement mods can/do improve in-game performance. It's not just about in air control, or how tight of turns you can take. You build muscle memory improving everything from ground movement to raw aim. You're strengthening the muscles in your arm/wrist/hand which allows for fine grain precision.
Additionally, anyone who has some amount of time in multiple games will tell you that playing cs:s, cs:go, tf2, and Gmod are all very different. Also default tickrates play a huge factor in how easy some ground based tricks are.

95% of my surfing time is in between pugs or before scrims, if I had to launch another game to surf i probably just wouldnt surf, which would suck :/
bhopping in tf2 has always felt clunky and even though you can do some cool things with crouch it just feels terrible
i dont get why people dont just bhop or surf on css, movement mods in tf2 is horrible
