Yes. Although the Iowa caucus doesn't ultimately give many delegates (candidates need ~2000 to be the democratic nominee, Iowa only gives ~43 and they are divvied up instead of all to the winner) it's a big moral victory to win the first state. Joe Biden not getting any delegates is a really bad thing for him. Sanders winning the state means there's much more hope that he can pull off the upset against Biden, and that's reflecting in most recent polls.

Caucusing takes a long fucking time so voter turnout is usually really low, also, the Republicans didn't need to Caucus since nobody is really running against Trump. Also if you aren't registered to the party (which most people aren't) you aren't allowed to caucus to begin with.
