It is a lot of chill fun, a ton of replay value, over-priced, but there are worse ways to spend $60. If you have the money, I say it is worth it.

"The Apparatus is about to EXPLO..."
Let's not overlook the whole stand still mechanic which is entirely foreign to TF2 or arena FPS. Sure aiming the shot might be easy, but hitting the shot isn't necessarily easier. There is a bigger target in cs, but more goes into aiming at that target in cs, unless you have the luxury of positioning...but such is the game, and your positional advantage can be taken away with correct teamplay and grenade usage. As Marmaduke just said, Awping is also much less forgiving, in every game snipers are immediate targets, so if you miss your shot you will either die to the enemy awper or be heavily focused to a point where taking a 2nd shot is not an option.
There is certainly a nice cushion of having a large target to 1 hit kill, but it really isn't as easy at that would seem unless you are playing players that aren't that good/have not a clue. Awping in DM, for instance, can be one of the easiest things you do in FPS gaming. This really does not translate at all to the actual game, other than learning the mechanic of stopping to shoot — which isn't that advanced of a skill, but does serve as a barrier to what an awper can do (and can often screw even the best awpers if they fail to account for it).
This thread should have ended at post #43. But if you want my take on it: Sniping in CS:Go is easier to do well with (make an impact with), but certainly not easier. The difference being the nature of the two games.
Wow, 16jacobj, am I not good enough for you? I'm about to go live and you just crushed my self-esteem. Thanks, 16jacobj. :(
Casting Hype. Let's do this.
Never heard of this guy, but why is anyone paying attention to him? Not one shot in that video seemed weird. Not one. Elaborate troll?
If he sincerely thinks any of that video is suspicious he should be laughed out of whatever community he is in. I've played against every sniper he mentioned and never once thought they were cheating or suspicious. Has he ever heard of, seen, or played against Justin? syckness? Sheep? Pangu? I can think of lists of snipers over the years who have made me scratch my head at how good they were and never did I think they were cheating. Never have I felt more powerless than when up against some of these players, and yet this guy see's some players sniping well in HL and he thinks they are cheating . . . because they can land a headshot on a pyro's hunched and bobbing hitbox? For real? Did he say that with a straight face?
If not trolling, I honestly don't think this guy knows how sniping or aiming works. I'm going to hold out for the elaborate troll option. For the sake of him being part of the same species that I am a part of, I'm riding high on the hope he is just trolling and not actually this hopeless.
won about $8 total, $4 on CLG, thought I was smart as fuck...then I learned Weed went max bet on them and won $2,400...35 asimovs +
WTF
I'm a big NiP fan, so I hope they take it. Put 8 bucks on them in their first match vs Dignitas tomorrow. Hoping they don't let me down.
I play this game more than I should. I like sniping.
Didnt play alpha, but beta has been a blast and not felt repetitive at all.
I imagine rould 1 will be 1 team of hunters vs. other team's best Monster. Round 2 is the other team's hunters vs. team 1's best Monster. Like PL, the team with the better time for Hunters wins (whether it be time they killed Monster in, or time before losing). Obviously if team 1 kills the Monster, it's up to team 2 to kill the monster quicker. In that way team 1 has an advantage, almost like starting CT.
To be comp viable it will need some smart rules, but I think it can be done, and be interesting. If there was a L4D comp community then there is no way there wont be one for Evolve.
Yeah that is a good point. I also think there should be a loadout list when you choose your character. You don't get to see what weapons they have. That isn't so bad after you remember them all, but as a new player it makes you try and remember what each person had. They have a million screens already, might as well make one more useful.
At first I wasn't that impressed. I started with Tracker and felt underwhelmed by the first one you can play. I did not like being the monster in the tutorial either. However then I played the first Support class (Hank), and that was a lot of fun. After I stopped playing I thought it was just okay, but I found myself wanting to load back up and play some more. I didn't, and found I wanted to play even more. Now I'm playing it. I think that is sign of a good game. If you have the urge to get back and play it, seems to me it is doing something right.
VortexDid they change much from the alpha? The alpha was pretty fun for a while but it started to get kind of repetitive.
It's also a 23 gig beta
Still downloading, 2 hours remain. 23 gigs :{
