ok, so the bottleneck with raw videos of this size is disk speed (maybe less so with a new superfast PCI-E SSD or whatever they're coming out with now), whether recording the TGAs from tf2 or playing back the uncompressed dubbed video. the media player buffers the file from disk into ram so it can be rendered, but the disk speed is usually too slow, hence the jerky video and choppy audio as it tries to sync them.
you can reduce that by putting it on an SSD. my pro evo 850 can ALMOST cope with uncompressed AVIs but disk space is really short there for anything over a minute or so. MPC-HC and probably some others will store the rendered result in ram meaning (tested up to about 10 seconds) if you sit through the first few seconds it will be butter smooth when you move the cursor thing back and play that part again. this is useful for checking whether stuff recorded well.
if you need smooth realtime previews of your stuff you might be best just encoding the uncompressed files at as high a bitrate as your disk can handle, at the expense of some quality since you're compressing the same video twice basically

competitive is the new RandomXD
if you understand the saveload portal glitch much of this makes more sense. basically the glitch allows you to, when behind the plane of one portal, shoot portals relative to the OTHER portal. so if you're 1 unit directly behind the portal you saveloaded on, and you shoot a portal, that portal comes out one unit behind the other portal with the same direction applied
ATXStark kicked from reason lmfao I'm getting baited

idek what's happening anymore im just gonna wait for week 1 matches
my favourite thing about prem recently is how while every other team shifts and folds each season lego remains fairly constant and now they're seeded 2nd

TrisTGemmellnessthere's probably a way you can add artificial latency to your game, e.g. add 50ms if you're at 50 ping, set it to 0ms if you're at 100 ping.
though that sounds awful and tbh i'd rather play with the lowest ping possible and use high ping as an excuse if you fuck up
edit: get the windows binaries for dummynet, then use the following commands (admin command prompt)
ipfw pipe 1 config delay 100ms ipfw add 100 pipe 1 ip from any to server-ip ipfw add 101 pipe 1 ip from server-ip to any
I think you'll need to change the pipe number (1) and the rule label (100, 101) for each server to prevent them overwriting each other. you also need to change the server-ip and the delay (to half the difference between your ping and the goal ping).
Thanks! Imma take a good look at that!
You really know your stuff :D
i rly know how to copy paste the first result from google and figure out roughly what commands mean without reading documentation

SnookHow do I turn on outlines for the cart and for players for that initial 10 seconds of respawn? Advanced options I have the cart outline checked as well as glow_outline_effect_enable 1 in the actual config. Does dx level matter?
need at least dxlevel 90, and there's also an advanced option to enable the outlines just after respawning, make sure that's ticked
cl_interpolate 1? or try setting to 0 and then 1 again while playing the demo
TechDudeIt definitely would affect rocket jumping! If you are changing the geometry of the projectile impact box you are bound to affect several types of jumps (wall climbs being one easy example).
is splash damage itself calculated using the bounding box then? i thought it just used some fixed point in the centre of the model since rockets shot slightly downwards on a wall still propel you upwards and not directly horizontally.
eeepoint being valve is capable of making this change easily
rocket splash shape /=/ bounding box
Dave_dauqDavidTheWinFair enough. If I was honest I'm a complete fucking retard when it comes to computers and such so I've got absolutely no idea what certain things do such as overclocking. It was my poor assumption based off what one of my mates was saying one time, my mistake. Even if I was to attempt it, I wouldn't trust myself because I'm no good with stuff like this.dauqPootisPootisPootisPootishttps://i.imgur.com/HJuQbuk.pngi have no idea how to overclock and from what i've heard it's not a good idea
Overclock cpu for better frames.
If you have a 3770k you paid more money than if you were buying a regular 3770 with literally the only difference being the ability to overclock it. If it wasn't a good idea they wouldn't make products whose only reason for existing is to be overclocked. Overclocking makes a cpu produce more heat and use more power but if you do it right, you'd never notice the decreased lifespan because you'd have upgraded long before it ever got to the point where the CPU couldn't handle the overclock stably.
just look up OC's online and go for something modest. I put my brother's i5-3570k at 4.2GHz and it was easily stable with very low vcore. Just don't go for something huge. Something like 3.4GHz to 4GHz should be okay but ymmv depending on your cooler etc.
i got a used i5-2500k from ebay for ~£90 a few months ago, got it to 4.5 with a hyper evo 212 and will probably leave it there until i build a new pc. the only tricky thing is finding a suitable motherboard but the ix-3xxx series boards work with ix-2xxx
i like the look of this lots
current issues i found (occur even right after git-clone), apologies if they're stuff that's only temporarily broken:
- health/ammo/killfeed don't show for me :c
- no quit/disconnect buttons (also quickplay but you mentioned that), probably your choice though and i configured the server buttons to do that
- what little info the scoreboard shows is often eclipsed by net_graph for me, i'd recommend lifting it up a bit
- killfeed is too big for my liking, i'd prefer it thinner and so it shows more kills
i didn't test it out too much but the main thing that would make me use it was if surf mode was replaced by pub mode, and offered a full scoreboard (including stats) and class select. obviously surf mode was your choice but if you wanna make a more widely appealing branch i'd suggest that
