Makes me wish every single competitive map made wasn't alpine themed.
bill_imagine the low fps on snow process middle...
Honestly if it was on a modern engine and could actually use the GPU and more than 3 cores these kinds of effects would be relatively easy to implement without a murderous FPS hit. The problem is Source is a 14 year old engine based on a 21 year old engine that based on a 23 year old game engine and suffers from pretty much the same issues as Bethesda's creation engine when utilizing modern hardware. TF2 can't even get my Vega 56 to boost to full clocks while utilizing like 13% of my CPU.

Cyanic_KermitYo this was nuts, any chance you guys would be willing to upload the map files?
Thanks man. Its up to Mould and Hyce if they want to release their own maps, but none of the maps created for this video are in a state that's even close to playable. This is mostly due to having to decompile and recompile the maps to edit them, which breaks things like collision and triggers (so shutters don't open, you can't cap points etc). Its also very likely that the skyboxes would be wrong or missing if used in game, at least on my maps. Finally, none of these maps are optimised so they would probably tank your fps.
Despite all this, if there's enough interest I'd be happy to at least release the VMFs for my maps so that if someone wanted to fix them they could, although as I said its up to Mould and Hyce for their maps.
don't care if they're playable, just want to load them up and look at them

imagine how cool it would be to be able to transfer player's movements from a match onto the new maps and cast with those. It'd never happen but it'd be so cool
there are so many shots that could make perfect posters, excellent composition. amazing job :D
RebiteIt'd never happen but it'd be so cool
its possible with demos

Can we get someone to implement these reskins as real maps and play at least some of them in the league? I'm getting super sick of the product aesthetic. I didn't like it when it was new let alone now that more than 1/2 the maps look like that.
scary snakewater and jungle gullywash when? but in all seriousness, this is an extraordinary video. i loved how terrifying the second point on snakewater was and i love the precise detail on the walls in middle gullywash! great job for everyone!
This is it.
This is the next level of TF2 editing.
God-tier work from everyone involved here.
I'm also going to echo comments others have made and say that this is exactly how I imagine a TF2 remake or sequel looking visually.

Holy crap dude, this turned out insanely well. Incredible job, glad I could help.
Sorry for the necro, but does anyone have a version of this video saved?
I remembered how sick it was the other day and wanted to rewatch but the original upload is now set to private and the channel is dead.

Why did cyanic delete everything. Dont get why people do that shit.
ZestyWhy did cyanic delete everything. Dont get why people do that shit.
He gave all his items away and quit the game entirely, also making all of his videos private or deleting them. I don't want to go into the details as of why but I'm sure you could ask around.

cyanic wanted to die on the All Lives Matter hill and exiled himself when people started arguing with him.
racist transphobe cant handle having to actually defend his beliefs! more news at 8
also, here is a reupload i found after a single search

I'd still love to see these reskins made into playable versions, it would be so fucking sick.

At least on a logistical level from my perspective - it would be difficult.
I edited Logjam specifically to make the clips "pop" - I knew where people would be, what the focus would be, etc. - so it was easy to detail around, etc..
I imagine something similar was true for the other maps. When you add the logistic of people needing good FPS and people using all of the playable space, it becomes much less realistic to actually achieve.
Certainly a gorgeous video though.

the ones I made could probably be converted into working maps, but I don't have the will to do it cause I'm working on my own map when I start hammer up, especially since reskins would literally be played say twice and never seen again - I was also never that happy with how mine turned out in the first place, I would have liked to have done far more advanced detailing.
(edit - in perspective, the night snowy process took under a day to create, and was created at a point where we didn't think it possible to record on changed geometry, it is literally texture swaps, added models, changed env lighting, added snow and as many snow decals as could fit - once we moved to sfm I had a plan to redo it as a full environment but this never happened)
I don't think cyanic, now that he isn't involved in tf2 anymore, would mind me saying there was originally plans to do an environments 2 that was supposed to go much much further, but I dropped out that project months ago and I'm guessing it's cancelled at this point, which is a shame
if anyone wants the VMFs I worked on I could probably find them on my old drive, but I can safely say I will personally probably never be finishing them up into real conversions, not unless there's a significant call for a pro version or something like that

There were plans and also quite a bit of progress done. The project has however been canceled until cyanic chooses to pick it up again. Honestly a shame it's been cancelled, env 1 is probably my favourite piece of tf2 content ever created.
Myself and others had done some mapping for the project so there is content there. Maybe someone wants to pick up where cyanic left off for env 2?

its pretty dumb deleting your videos but the fact that this was a collab effort makes it so much worse

well because of what he said pretty much 90% if not all of the people working with him decided to not work with him and pretty much cancelled him. the editing community from what cyanics told me is very close knit and circlejerky and they often work together for most projects so cyanic getting booted out pretty much meant he was fucked
