this is going to be beast
Ash Is gonna be top ten or else its simply false information
lucrativePhantomi mean i'll wait til it's out but alex.exe not being on it sounds incredibly terrible if there's gonna be some pocket soldier from 2009 who could barely rocket jump on it in his place
I still and will always disagree with this take lol any of those players that were good "back then" if continued to play would have adapted and learned new mechanics and new meta, the game wasn't even remotely the same between any of these era's. we have also seen lots of players from super long ago continue to play and continue to be on top and learn new mechanics/metas (people like blaze come to mind)
I disagree with the idea of giving people credit for "if they had continued to play" yeah of course people with 10 years of experience would have an advantage compared to if they only played for a couple years, but they didn't and that's that. Now of course in a list like this we should give people credit for relative to their time skill level which is why old players are going to make it on the list at all. This is sort of what makes this list subjective fun(and therefore not really worth arguing about because tery and the people he consulted might just value things a little differently than other people) rather than something that can be looked at as objective fact.

There have been old top tier players returning and preforming at a competetive level. I think TLR left tf2 for multiple years before joining froyo and playing on international LANs. Alfa has also had long breaks and instantly played in playoffs when returning. Raymon was away from prem for years before joining crowns (or se7en), and when he returned many people considered him the best medic in the world. There are also examples of people returning and not being as good as they used to. i49 Shocky was a beast that, and while he was still a prem playoffs contender when he came back, i can not see a maincaller say "Shocky go on flank and 2 vs 1 their roamer and flank scout" like KnoxXx said back in the day.

What a sick and well made article. I look forward to seeing where some of my former inspirations and idol's placed, as well as to see who the newer legends of the game are. I'm a little ashamed that I never got good enough to be remembered in any capacity myself, but that honestly just makes me even more impressed by how skilled the people on the list will be. Maybe do a bottom 100 so I can be on a list too :P
Also Fuck yeah tony honerable mention for being the Boomer/dad of tf2 I always knew you were. lmaooo

ya I mean that's fine and all but the point was that for people that never came back it is pointless for things like "if they kept playing" to impact their rank

I'm excited to debate this, like it's the NBA top 100 players.
"BIGGEST SNUBS, SURPRISES, and BEST PLAYERS"
"BIGGEST SNUBS, SURPRISES, and BEST PLAYERS"
1-5 are pretty much set (in some order) but 6-10 are tough as hell. excited to see what y'all do
I don't think top 5 are going to be as set as people suggest, there's definitely teams like mix^ you'd have to account for before you assume froyo players are instantly on the list
wouldnt the top 5 be b4nny platinum habib yomps clockwork or am i crazy
I personally feel the obvious top 4 is b4nny platinum habib clockwork
And for the 5th spot you could make a case for, among others,
blaze
yomps
shade
Redacted
bdonski
Seagull

doesnt alfa have a strong case for top 5? lan on every class, played at a high level for a long time up to the present, v strong offclasser and he has a ring
i'm curious where artist would fall with only one season but winning his only season
I already talked with Tery about this a couple of months ago, but rating medics will be very difficult due to the class having the lowest sway in WAR (wins above replacement) compared to any other class. Still, I think there being a write-up for each player is great content and awesome to see.
I really appreciate the effort that's going into this, even though everyone is gonna get in some very heated debates, lol.

Honestly the discussion that the series will help generate is one of the main reasons I took on this challenge. The other of course being a deep-dive into NATF2's history and all that. As long as we're civil to each other, I'm really looking forward to it. Seeyou in the first installment, coming soon™.
I dunno why I woke up this morning and thought ‘I gotta check tftv for the first time in 2 years’
Glad I did.

There's no point in calling them [redacted] instead but keep the mentions and even consider for a hall of fame spot. As if there's not enough talented people already.
Most placements can be debatable, but please no child groomers.

I was kidding about the Redacted thing, everyone knows it's Nursey and it's a meme
and I don't think anything about Nursey as a person has any bearing on her being arguably the greatest medic of all time, just like how OJ Simpson still ran for 2000 yards in a 14 game season regardless of what came next

The whole point about saying "redacted" is ostracism, which goes beyond being league banned. If you tone it down and call it a meme... Oddly some people were all over that thread saying "yeah, fuck that guy" and yet think it's reasonable to give them the spotlight because "gud at gaem". Ultimately this is just another list, but it's saddening how shallow some povs are.
"You can't play with us anymore for what you did, but we'll always regard you as one of the best." Yikes.

ZetosYikes.
Mustard (and pretty much everyone) knows nursey isn't gonna be on the list, same as OJ isn't gonna be in the HoF. This certainly isn't mustard putting them in the spotlight.
