The first TF2 Comic since 2017 just got released, kinda insane to think it has been that long.

the tf2 comics always had good writing, theres definitely a lot of what i only describe as "reddit bait" but i laughed aloud a few times reading this one

i can't be the only one who feels like this is about three or four issues just smashed together because whoever was working on this had a weekend free from the dota mines and wanted to give the game some sort of closure before they get dragged back

If it’s done fine, but for the love of god optimize the game, fix all the bugs and port it to source 2 for the sake of it moving forward

I'm never hoping for VALVe to port this game to source 2 ever with how they're handling CS2 right now, and with how TF2 is has been handled for the past 7 years.

So what did yall think about it? I'm a little bummed they didn't really cover pyro that much but I love that they finally went into the admin's back story.

tiberiusI love that they finally went into the admin's back story.
Did they tho? This comic really just gave me "okay here's a happy ending, no further questions, byeeee!"
Like, that's fine, I can enjoy that, but don't make it something it isn't. They didn't expand on anything, they just showed a bunch of stuff we already knew. Like we already knew the administrator hated the Manns, but instead of telling us why, they told us that Zepheniah hired her because she was the first person to show up and ask for the job. I don't think anyone cared about HOW she got the job anyway, unless it was related to WHY she hated the Manns. but it wasn't, and even if anyone cared about the how anyway, were they satisfied with something that empty?
if there's any moral to this story it's "stop asking, just enjoy the good parts because it really aint that deep, we don't even remember how to make good games she doesn't even remember why she hates the manns"

By the end the admin doesn't even know why she's doing it anymore. Pretty sure it's a metaphor for how meaningless war is and how people will just continue cycles of violence for legacy's sake. It ends because Pauling breaks the cycle of violence instead of choosing to perpetuate it
As for her true backstory:
We are given glimpses ourselves with the 3 alternate shots of her murdered parents. The most "accurate" one being the first one. A crowbar next to the broken door, house ablaze, parents murdered. It implies Zepheniah benefited from their murders
My guess is a land (or money) dispute. Even Zepheniah's ancestors' graves are maintained by the admin so it seems personal, not a family vendetta. The stairs look like those at the Mann mansion further in the comic? Zepheniah is shown to not care about destroying things for his own image with the statue of the thinker. I'm guessing he murdered her parents to build the mansion on the stolen land
The 2 other shots of her murdered parents are more abstract. It might be the fading of her own memories of the events? The one with the ice is too abstract. the one where her parents are poisoned with the blueprints on the ground can't be real because those inventions didnt happen until Australium was properly researched

pauling was disillusioned specifically with the administrator's way of doing things. had more to do with working yourself to the bone for no reason. idk man i really dont think the comic where people constantly dying is played for laughs and no one shows any remorse at any point is about the cycle of violence
