sniper is aids. half of the community recognizes that it's aids, and the other half of the community who says shit like "complaining about sniper outs you as a noob" wants sniper to stay in 6s so they have easy gameplay with the braindead class

and i dont care if sniper has good skill expression, yes its impressive to have good aim, but fundamentally sniper is just too powerful for 6s play. you can always say stuff like "both teams can snipe" but no one has ever enjoyed playing with a sniper, against a sniper, or in a sniper mirror

imo the game will be 10x better if sniper gets banned but it will never happen because rgl puts literally every decision up to a poll and the moron scout archetype accounts for too many players and subsequently votes in this community

this is all fair and I'd definitely agree that it's one of the stronger classes but it strikes me as more of a map/meta problem than a game problem. I do think you could nerf sniper to only do 140 with bodyshots or something so you aren't forced to constantly blind pop

it's just generally speaking i think the meta is super underdeveloped and looking at tf2 as anything less than a sum of its parts seems silly to me if you actually enjoy the game... the dynamic between the classes is literally the whole point of the game and it's beautifully designed or else we wouldn't be playing it

i will admit as well that i was feeling a bit spicy and it's a little silly to come in here basically saying you're not allowed to have opinions about sniper... it just personally never really bothered me i mean demoman can literally blow up an entire team from across the map without even looking at them

D: Clearing traps

nothing more aggravating to me than going around a corner super awkwardly and then playing kovaaks to clear traps, which completely telegraphs our push and makes us super easy to kite, while also forcing to stare at a god damn wall. If there was to ever be a spiritual successor to 6v6 tf2 the first thing i would want redesigned is sticky traps.

I do think sniper as a risk forces teams to pop into certain lasts. There was a point in whatever discord pug group when sniper was banned, and in response, people just started brazenly milking through certain doorways during last pushes. EX:Snakewater last top left, Sunshine top right, Process 5. Just tank a soldier to 300, and brute force your way through the door knowing that the defenders can’t commit enough resources to really stop you (or you will uber and kill the fuck out of them).

Obviously, there is still the risk of a sticky trap, and soldiers do have the ability to stuff some of those doors to force teams to pop while being able to escape, but it’s yet another added responsibility for soldiers who already have the burden of having to stop point, keep the flank from getting in for free, etc. IDK maybe it’s just skill issue and top players would have a different perspective on it.
