Are they still worth playing? The community is mostly dead in NA from what I hear, but is there anyone here that still plays? I'd try getting into it myself but the only people ever around have been playing for years.

I play Quake Live every now and then. It's one of the most difficult games I've ever played, so if you're looking for a challenge it's definitely worth a shot

I played like 50 hours, it was fun but the whole in-browser platform was kind of annoying. Does anyone even play Quake 3 anymore?

Warsow is pretty alright but I prefer quake live, and not many people play it either. But I agree, I don't like the whole "in-game browser" thing.

There's alway QLPrism if you don't like using your regular browser and kinda want to make QL have it's own thing. I still play Quake 3 time to time to get my money's worth, and it feels pretty good too.

yes, except most people play at a higher FOV in quake than is (now) possible in TF2, so while your cm/360 will be the same with raw input on (m_rawinput 1 / in_mouse 2) it may *feel* different as your pixels/cm will be off

the physics are much nicer
smoother everything really especially air control, has bunny hopping rather than strafe jumping, instant weapon switch etc
also the hitboxes are the same as q3a as opposed to ql's cylindrical one

It's a little different. I've played both a decent amount and it definitely has a different feel to it, though I can't quite put my finger on it. For some reason airshots are 99% easier in CPMA than in QL/PQL for me.
Also, if anyone ever wants a duel or two: ign = t3tra.
