I don't disagree that US needs to regulate weapons like guns better, however I'd say it's naive to say gun control would've kept guns out of the hands of someone so wealthy and determined. On the other hand, if more people 'believed'(I hate that I have to use that term) in mental illness, and were educated on the traits of a sociopath with no empathy, there's a good chance someone close to him could have gotten him help of prevented the violence he caused.

He was reported by his family/therapists multiple times, but police didn't have a good enough reason to send him to a psych ward. His family tried to get him help, police questioned him but what can you legally do if they guy hasn't actually done anything illegal and can act mentally stable in front of them.
