I play on a VPN, it's often better than without but occasionally becomes awful. It's always fixed by just connecting to a new vpn server though, takes about 20/30s
vmkscAlso Arie kudos, your site is now a bit more secured from the noobies but not impenetrable ;)
yeah it's secured from pasting skids like you
:)~
are you kittix btw? you sound just as bad or even worse than him

Good detective work Arie, you're an asset to the community.
Arie's posts always make me feel proud to be Dutch(and I'm not a very patriotic person).
http://steamcommunity.com/id/MikeTF2/ is the person collecting IPs. Sorry for ruining the anonymity, but I'm positive that he won't ever respond to this thread in any serious manner, because he is nothing more than a hacking troll that likes to DDoS people. Mike is lying to you Arie, his only intended use for the IPs that he has collected is to DDoS TF2 players.
Edit: Not exactly proof, but here is a screenshot of him joking about this thread on his friend's profile http://i.imgur.com/pRt3eIN.png
Edit #2: Apparently Arie was not referring to Mike in his post, however I do know that Mike was in fact pulling people's IPs http://i.imgur.com/xkcVqXN.png Maybe there were multiple people that were pulling IPs from serveme.tf?

Anyone could really do this. If Arie has an IP/Steam ID match that would be great, but otherwise it's best just to enforce preventative measures, which he has already done.

a casted ugc silver playoffs match that actually mattered quite a bit for the teams involved. hes not the best person.
to actually contribute here, ddosing has become quite a big issue and we need to find better ways to curb its impact on games and players.

It's been a problem for as long as the internet existed and it's neither cheap nor easy to mitigate, we aren't capable of turning around next week with a fix.

really an amazing individual

I wonder if the people who spend their time trying to ruin the community will end up looking back on their actions 10 years from now and realize that they were enormous dickheads. We can only hope they eventually grow up.
What does this mean for the people who have played on serveme servers in the past 5 days?

i mean your ip is probably pasted somewhere (also it's 5 weeks as pointed out in the op)
but considering how many people have played in the last 5 weeks there is no way someone is ddosing all of those so you're probably safe as long as you're not particularly high profile

Mike didn't use the script though? His method to get ips is through rcon. I didn't actually believe him at first but then he gave me fades ip (it matched!) and ddosed him for a minute or so.

An update on the changes to serveme.tf:
- All new logfiles viewable on serveme.tf and in the downloadable zipfile automatically have 0.0.0.0 instead of real IP addresses.
- All older logfiles already stored on serveme.tf have had the IPs in them replaced with 0.0.0.0. These are the logs you see when you click the "logs.tf" button for your reservation.
- All older logfiles stored in the downloadable zipfiles (300GB of zips) are being removed from the zipfile, the demo will not be removed. This is taking a while because there are 30k zipfiles to go through.

Fairly certain I was a victim of this, off a TF2stadium lobby or two that used serverme.tf a week or two back. I looked through my logs.tf and 3 lobbies recently used it. Yesterday I did a lobby and not 5 seconds after it finished my internet almost completely cuts out. What is normally a 85 mbps down, 90 mbps up connection, went to 3 down and 25 up. It's not my internet cutting out. In the 10 years I've had Verizon FiOS (even when they were just DSL), I've lost connection exactly 3 times, all due to natural disasters (Hurricane Sandy, Irene, etc).
No concrete proof of course, but its just too damn coincidental. The problem did not go away until I released my IP address and reset my router.

I don't want to witch hunt, but IIRC mike joined the UGC HL match i had been casting with a friend of mine, and then snipehacked.
Likewise, less than a week ago, I got a reddit message from one of my stream viewers, and they told me "after you ended your stream someone was talking hardcore about doxing you and your friends, like he could do it easy if he wanted to". The viewer didnt know who said it, just that he remembered he wanted to warn me.
Not saying they're connected since I can't confirm who threatened a dox in my chat, but it seems really suspicious to me. Just really unsolicited since I've never heard of mike, the closest thing was when he showed up in podgy's match we were scrimming and me and my cast buddy jokingly rooted for mike because we're unprofessional shitlords. Never made enemies with the guy though

if this Mike dude genuinely gets satisfaction out of doing shit like doxxing someone for fun, making fun of someone for having depression, and is constantly up to something malicious i wouldnt be surprised if he actually has some kind of social disorder

Let's back off this witch hunt, and focus on the main message - protecting your IP, if someone does get your IP and you are in a match what can I do to solve the issue quickly? I have very basic knowledge of this sort of thing.
