Nah, it always was.

So, you're saying people shouldn't have differing opinions or priorities?

since this topic had zero references i automatically assumed it was a reddit thing
https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/4y7gfz/creator_of_red_fury_needs_help_regarding_copyright/

i don't see how people choosing not to donate towards things makes people retarded tbh

people aren't obligated to donate towards every competitive fundraiser
also who is to say that a majority of those donations towards his copyright strike isn't from his youtube community (dude has over 160k subs)

content creators for tf2 are important in a different way towards growing the community, and i don't think it makes people retarded for sending money to help someone fight youtubes copyright system which is another issue entirely

ToTH isn't aimed at promoting or growing this game but does that mean people are retarded for donating to that and not to a third Froyo fundraiser in as many years?

Sending teams to LAN is the equivalent of paying a kickstarter for some kid to get a laptop so he can play games and stream it. Not half the production cost of a LAN has to do with the players being shipped there. It's effectively people asking their grandparents to pay for their new hobby.

I can understand wanting to see non-european teams in a european tournament because it's rare, but Tilt all live in reasonable countries; they could 'easily' get the money if they truly tried hard to. Jasmin fly from the other side of the fucking world just to please people, and b4nny is probably the biggest reason people donate to them, and most of them get a shirt in return.

Do top-tier players really need to be fucking tipped for playing a game? You'd think they'd go out of their way to do it themselves if they truly wanted to go.

This community funded the new PC of a russian player so he can fuck off and play Overwatch and you are ranting about the top teams crowdfunding their trip to TF2 LANs so it doesn't become too much of a financial burden for them, considering the prize pools.

If someone truly wants to do something they should bankrupt themselves in order to do it? What?

I view a donation made to a TF2 team going to LAN as a purchase. I am paying so I can enjoy watching these matches and rooting for my team to win. It is really no different than buying a ticket for a movie or a concert.

seeing that people on reddit prioritize a 4 minutes long sfm animation over a 3 days long international tournament disappoints me (it means "it makes me extremely mad").
But still, one can waste his money however he wants, i'm not gonna complain any longer.

The worst is that the video creator was actually using copyrighted tracks without permission, it's his fault as well in this story.

Oh wait, did I forget to say he didn't stop the fundraising when his goal was reached? He's just keeping all the extra money for himself now, even though he's legally wrong here.

Copyrighted music is copyrighted music, even if it's bullshit, you have to respect those laws. It's not like he didn't know the risk involved.
