Yeah this is absurdly damning. I'd say stay far, far away from this entire event.

Anyone whose father both has and exercises the ability to cut off their internet should not be in charge of a charity event whose stated goal is to collect hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in both real money and personal assets, some of which are given directly to said event holders, with the mere assumption that it is delivered to the correct place.

After reading everything, and the boasting on the 40bud range scam, this guy definitely can't be completely trusted(duh). It seems weird that he went from a scammer into a charitable worker. If he thought the acting like a girl to get free items was a good joke to him, I could imagine him taking all the profits from this event laughing and thinking "ha tricked these shitty tf2ers of their stuff once again". Of course that is horrible and I would encourage that people should resign from giving money to this event. Give the money to a legit official source for charity or wait for TOTH I would say. If there is any "chance" that any charity event might have sketchy backgrounds, NEVER give to that event imo, the risk isn't worth taking most or all times. It's sad to hear this and I hope things somehow go well.
The charity is good, but as others have said the if the middle man is this untrustworthy go directly to the source. So if you had planned to donate before this post and this post changes your mind consider giving your money directly to them at http://www.childsplaycharity.org/

Gotcha, if that's the case the timing was just pretty bad.
Also, gonna throw in my two cents on this whole thing. I've known Snoven for a while, back when he was on his Amz account too. In short I found out that he would go to a server and pretend to be a chick and then some kid with access to his parent's paypal account would buy stuff for him. He also tried to give me a Max's Head that I later gave back, turns out that was scammed as well. Also there's his first account getting hit with the community ban. Just stupid stuff like that really gave me bad vibes about him. He asked me to help with FTC this time around but knowing him I tried to keep away. After reading all of this and seeing how sketchy the event itself is I really don't feel okay with him running something like this.
Since my bud Auzzie posted here I may aswell reaffirm the facts;
I've known about this shit for months now, I haven't said anything about it outside of my circle of friends because I don't give a shit about internet drama, also I don't ever post on tftv (just lurk).
He added me before the FTC stuff got "big", through mutual friends (before my opinion of him soured). Once I found out his true intentions (see below) I told my friends not to get involved with the event on a staff level and I just left the steam group and forgot about the whole event.
I've played mvm with him awhile back where he openly bragged in mumble about scamming $4000 worth of tf2 crap from some kid by pretending to be a girl, then justified it by giving the items to people I am friends with (see Auzzies post). He also admitted in mumble that FTC was basically just something to make him popular disguised as a charity event (not that he wont donate the proceeds to charity though).
I generally don't like the guy as a whole but I never removed him because I didn't wanna cause shit by doing so (I was listed as a moderator or something of FTC before the site got changed), now that the truth is out I can delete him without caring about internet drama.
TL;DR
Everything in the OP is 100% correct.

hate to be that guy, but i sincerely hope that everyone and anyone who has donated (with time or with gift) has learned from this.
before donating, just double-check everything. these kind of scams have happened on a much larger scale.
if possible; always ignore the middle man, and donate as direct as you can.
it's straight-up heartbreaking to read that the good intentions of alot people, and the name and sake of charity, are being used to do something like this. it's absolutely disgusting.
thank you for sharing your findings on this whole situation, OP (and the others).
edit: after reading the link Mio posted: i sincerely doubt that he will actually give all of the items away. it's hard to trace all donated items. i think that, at most, he would give only a portion away.
would be happy to get proven wrong, of course.

If this is true then this guy's just sick. It's one thing scamming people but its another doing it in the name of charity. A whole new level of wrong.
If you check plotchys tf2 outpost profile, he was banned 4 months ago for impersonating a tf2 outpost admin/middlemaning: http://www.tf2outpost.com/user/135073
Also remember, it's kinda to late to call this event quits :( guys make sure just to donate DIRECTLY to the charity rather than flares that care during the livestream to make sure your money will really be used in the right manner. I think flares that care will still be a great event despite the bad rep of the organisers. I had a different opnion at first and thought it should be completely cut but after realising how much HARD work some legit people have put into this event, I think we should all give it a shot :)

Ok so, I am NOT a senior staff member within FTC, but as one of the PR staff I feel inclined to say something. This is by no means an "official statement" or anything, as i have yet to hear from snove, but this is the way I see things.
I wasn't aware of the scamming history of many of the senior staff members of FTC. After seeing the evidence before me, I agree that this looks pretty dodgy right now. In saying that however, there is an option to donate DIRECTLY to childsplay.org during the stream, cutting out FTC as a middleman. So If you have any concerns about the legitimacy of the event then by no means let that discourage you donating to a worthy cause.
Many MANY people have put countless hours into organising this event and it would be a shame to see all of that wasted by the mere histories of certain staff members. Regardless of whether the item donation was meant to be a scam or not, this stream is a great opportunity to raise money for people who need it, and watch some video games in the process.
Thank you.
Edit #1 - With a number of staff and guests now refuses to participate in the event and STILL no response from snoven i can as good as confirm that if FTC does go on, it will be atleast 12 hours shorter.

I'm scheduled to be streaming the middle 12 hours (the EU-hours, if you will) and I wasn't aware of any of this...
I've known Snoven since he was known as Amethyz; he was a regular viewer of my stream and even did the graphical stuff for my stream layout which I still use. He's always been pleasant to me, and even plays MvM with me sometimes. He asked me a while ago if I would like to help out for a charity stream and of course I was keen to help out what seems like a worthy cause - all I had to do was play MvM, which I do on a Saturday anyway. Unfortunately I work 11 hours a day, am part of 5 different TF2 teams in 2 leagues so my time is limited; as such I have not "met" anyone else on the team or been part of the build up to the stream (it was only last night that I spoke to Snoven in Mumble about any details regarding the stream). The only other person on the FTC website that I know is Blutz, a friend of mine and active mod on my stream, and also totally unaware of this situation based on the conversation I'm having with him right now.
I was unaware of the reason Amethyz changed his account to Snoven, unaware of his history, and unaware of the problems that have been happening within FTC (other than being in Mumble talking with TMP when Jess and B_Red apparently left the team). All of this seems worrying and the evidence is pretty damning, which makes me concerned about being associated with this organisation. For those of you who don't know me, I am a big trader and collector in TF2, and I don't want me reputation being ruined by being associated with scammers or a possibly fraudulent event.
As of this moment I am unsure whether I will be partaking in the event. I've messaged Snoven on Steam to no response, and I go back to work in 30 minutes. Many of my friends who have been previously supporting FTC are showing concerns. I feel terrible for letting down anyone who has been honestly working on this project, and would happily support the charity in any other legitimate means, but right now I don't want to put my name towards something that could be a scam.
EDIT: As monetary donations go right to the childsplay website, that is what I will recommend people to do.
EDIT2: I received an Unusual from Amethyz (Snoven) during a "1,000 point speedrun" stream, if I can find out that this hat was scammed, I will be returning it to it's original owner.

I'm gonna throw out my take on FTC as well. I've know plotchy for about a year now. I'm in mumble with him everyday. I know about all the scamming he has done, hell I was even there when it happened. From what he's told me, this iteration of FTC didn't start out as a scam, but way later on he mentioned something about about some form of scamming going on. I can't recall what he said exactly, just that he talked to Snoven in mumble. All in all, plotchy isn't the mastermind as far as I know. I'll talk to him In mumble later today and see what he says. I don't want you all to get your shit stolen.
Why are all of these people coming out of the woodwork now like "oh yeah guys I knew for ages everyone is really dodgy"
do you not have a moral obligation to speak up when you know this shit is happening?

I'm strangely proud at seeing just how caring and judicious the TF2 community can be. There was more thought put into that post than most other articles I've read this year. Here's hoping all is well, hearts are in the right places, and we have a good stream tomorrow.
What the fuck guys? If you knew the entire time you should have said something. The internet drama excuse seems like a cop out. Just out come out with it next time. Okay? If something seems off, then speak up. Imagine if this post wasn't created. The entire thing would have happened without any concerns, and this guy could have gotten away with it (assuming it's a scam). The fault would be on you if you knew about it. Suppose you are working at a charity, and an employee is stealing money from it. Wouldn't you speak up? Not only is the employee stealing money from donors, but also the children.
Okay so
I'm Twiglet and I was in charge of stream tech for the FTC stream and as of now I have barely done anything to help with this Snoven told me last week the gfx for the stream were being made and they would be done this week bare in mind he said this to me in a way like he forgot the whole thing was even happening O.o weird huh? but all this was so i could set them all up for the stream and begin transitions of the gfx for the stream (Technical shit ya know :D)
But alas here we are the day it all begins and guess what I heard fuck all from snoven, I messaged him on Wednesday of this week to see if it was ready and he never replied to me at all and I've tried speaking to him today again to no avail he is just hiding in a corner of silence right now not talking to anyone so i dunno what to do and without that stream stuff I was meant to set up the stream just cant function so...

Sorry if my original post was confusing but I kinda rage-spat it out from reading how he treated other people.
I cannot speak for others, but personally I was under zero assumption that snoven would take the items for himself until this thread came along.
Prior to being linked this thread, all I knew about his scamming was "he pretended to be a girl and got some hats from some kid". I did not read any of the steamrep posts or anything else into it until this thread came along, I never saw any of the FTC staffs previous behaviour or dickish posts on SR forums prior to this thread. I did not know the kid was buying the hats with his parents paypal.
A couple months ago I was like "oh, he's only doing FTC as a publicity stunt, I don't want to be a part of that", I didn't even know about the item donations, I was only shown the event donation page (monetary) on the childs play website.
Again, I don't know if these posts are aimed at me among others, But you have to understand that I never assumed/thought he would scam anyone during the charity stream until I read this thread, I never asked anyone about his scamming because I don't care for the issue, I had no concern to speak out against it until I was linked this thread, then I was like "oh shit, he did THAT?" and immediately spoke up to help reinforce the stuff that's already been posted.
If I knew there was any threat to peoples items being taken instead of rightfully used in the stream I would have indeed spoken up about it, but I honestly was not aware of how shitty they treated the people they scammed, they seemed genuine about their intentions (both the charity and the publicity stunt) but I see now that they has a complete different side of them that shit-talks the people they scam and don't give a fuck about other peoples lively-hoods.
I hope you understand my mentality on the matter before I saw this thread, Internet drama vs Morally wrong are separated by a few pieces of evidence that I discovered from this thread.

Nastybutler, Admin on the ReSurfed network. We (as a network) welcome charity events such as these, (FtC, ToTH...and whoever else comes to us) with arms wide open, but as I see fit, if things like this do manage to turn up, ReSurfed will always come first in my eyes. I, personally, will not take sides on any matter that turns up, only the side of the network we spent the last year building and trying to perfect to keep a base community active within the confines of TF2. Although I do not speak for the rest of the staff of ReSurfed, as they all have their own opinions on the matter; I fully trust they make rightful decisions upon imposing situations. If something does manage to turn up, it will be dealt with accordingly. Likewise, I do hope this is all just petty hearsay and things will turn out just fine.
Some of you know my reputation. This now has MY attention.

Lets get everything straight here...
Flares that care donations go directly to Child's Play VIA their website
They have donation setups for all the monetary donations to go on their site, as they did the first time around.
Item donations are used as 1st place prize incentive
So I could still communicate with members on the team that are managing everything, and to stop everybody from freaking about about the item bot, which still happened, items were moved from the donator bot to my account to be used to organize the groups of items that will be sent out, you can find all those items donated to the top 3
What now?
Congrats you've found my history, no I don't scam shit anymore and no I'm not planning on doing such, whomever donated items should be given back if they want it given back, and FTC will either be cancelled or will need a load of new people available to replace those totally giving up on the project.
For a moment I thought I could go past my extremely horrible past being an asshole to some kid that gave out free unusuals and my greed overtaking me to scam about 8 buds off of guys that I convinced to broker their unusuals. I've realised now I have to start all over, and not get back in touch or tell anybody of my past, ever again. I'm a young, extremely depressed, anxious maniac that just wants to find somewhere that he can get along and do something nice, but I always end up ruining something or other, and this is one of them. I couldn't handle running everything but I felt I wanted to, especially to meet people like Truk, or Satan, or whomever.
Whether or not we have participants during the event, FTC will stream for 1 hour for anybody still willing to donate to Child's Play to do so (AS THE DONATION LINK GOES TO THEIR SITE, NOT OUR PAYPAL)
If it means anything, I'm sorry of my horrible decisions in my past and the influence its made on friends and people I've met, its disgusting that I've done stuff like this and I thought I could just leave it behind. Goodbye everyone.
tl;dr I just hope you guys understand that I wanted to do something nice for people so I didn't feel garbage about myself, and hopefully me replying to this and showing you makes the difference...

To me that response is really aggressive. To act like we're a bunch of rude people for pointing out that scamming 100s of dollars should raise red flags is fucking crazy dude.

And snoven, why is your response so passively aggressive. I understand you might want to do good but not need to explain it in such a way
Edited because im dumb.

ITEMS WILL BE RETURNED IF ASKED OTHERWISE WILL BE SOLD
FTC WILL GO ON for an hour at 12:00 PM PST for anybody expecting it for them to donate towards Child's Play for an hour.
I will no longer be running FTC nor do I expect anybody else to run it, if you do want to take over from my place to make it truly a charitable event, with all of the beautiful artwork done by Fox, Jess, and Blutz I'd suggest using it instead of wasting their hard work, I don't ask for forgiveness, I ask for you all to continue FTC as your own, truly charitable event.
Goodbye everyone

I will no longer be running FTC nor do I expect anybody else to run it, if you do want to take over from my place to make it truly a charitable event, with all of the beautiful artwork done by Fox, Jess, and Blutz I'd suggest using it instead of wasting their hard work, I don't ask for forgiveness, I ask for you all to continue FTC as your own, truly charitable event.
Goodbye everyone

Edited because im dumb.
I come out as that all the time, I'm very anxious right now and I just do shit like this, sorry.
