this is not aim assist... just projectiles hitting where your crosshair is aimed unless you're too close to something

Is this a thing for original as well?

i feel like its necessary for the rocket of the stock rl to not just fuck off in a direction it is going

I don't believe so as the rocket comes from the center and always goes straight whereas the rocket launcher is from the side and so flies at an angle.

I think The Original does this but to only fix it vertically, instead of both horizontally and vertically.

Is this not common knowledge...?
imo this is one of the big reasons to consider the original over stock rl, since the cross-hair position is more consistent when going for directs, it kind of removes a luck factor imo :-/.

isn't the original fired out of your face? you can shoot through small horizontal and vertical cracks so I've always assumed there was no adjustment (or at least it was very small.)

the original (and rocket launcher) both fire 3 hu below eye level, so it doesn't come out of your face like you said, that's why you still need to align your crosshair above a horizontal crack to shoot through it with the original

was that in issue in quake? you could alter Rocket Launcher position too.
is it a common coding trick in other FPS?

i think this is noticable. sometimes when i go for headshot rockets, they feel undeserved like they couldnt miss

why is this a controversial thing? it makes sense - if your crosshair is placed on an object close to you, and the rocket launcher fires from the right side of your screen, then it makes sense that the rocket's pathing would be aligned with your crosshair being on the close object. if your crosshair is pointed at something farther away, the angle of the rocket launcher to the far away point would have to be larger. basic trigonometry

i think the way they did this is pretty good, the distance u have to be to have it not aim assist is super close and it allows for cool peeking around corners

They spent all this time programming a check to make sure your projectiles would hit a target if it was too close to you, yet most hitscan weapons come out of the side of your screen and there's no correction. Then they were just like fuck it and had heavy's hitscan come from his mouth, like I will never understand Valve's design process.

Would you feel better if all shots on targets less than 2000 units away automatically hit dead center?

their crackhead-esque design and source spaghetti leaves a lot of wiggle room for interesting strats, i guess
