Basically, I want a more accurate way to count ubers...but I can't count.
I've been going by the feel of time and/or referencing my own build, so I have a decently accurate sense of where ubers should be, but I think being able to use an actual round timer for reference would get even better results?
I understand (because someone explained this to me lol) that, referencing the round timer and seeing when a medic spawns, I should just be able to add 15s and subtract a minute and get about the time the enemy should have full uber. I just can't actually do that mental math very quickly during a game.
I've considered having a phone timer set to 45s by my keyboard to just activate/reset, but I was curious to see if anyone had other ideas that might work better.

I haven't looked closely but i'm pretty sure this should be able to be dropped into any hud fairly easily, or you could change to a hud that already has it built in if you're not attached to your hud very much. And I'm pretty confident that RGL would still allow this but I'm not 100%, so it might be worth asking an admin.

I have a hud that has this feature. idk why I can't upload to dropbox rn, but add me on steam or discord at chell#2757 for the hud. It's delihud neue which is pretty modern and good for comp. I would also have no idea how to let your hud whatever it may be have that feature, but it's a compramise i guess.
The counter works by pressing one of the default buttons for a voiceline (z,x,c) and it will begin to count to 100 in 50 seconds. I know uber can build in 40 but that's super uncommon so 50 seconds works as an "average" idk if anything i'm saying makes sense but whatever i have hud where number do count.

whenever their med spawns or fades hit tab and look at the server time and add 20 to the seconds. they will have uber the next time there are that many seconds.
ex.
med spawns at 10:32
32+20=52
the med will have uber at 9:52 the earliest
for the 50's just replace 5 with 1
for the 40's just remove the 4
also kritz takes 32 seconds

The way we were used to is just track when med spawned and add 40. Either way, kind of accounts for the time people should take position to use the incoming uber as well. To be 'super accurate' you're going to need to notice how long they haven't been healing for. Other than that, you should assume they're healing from the very frame they can, up to the usual time it takes to get the uber and use it. ~40 seconds.

u could ask some1 on ur team that doesnt have dyscalculia to do it
after playing med for a while i feel like i have a general idea of how much uber u can get in certain amount of seconds if ur like slightly building and if ur hard building.
and everything else was just paying attention to when i spawned and when they spawned and if i was alone or if they were alone

tip for helping with your dyslexia: if you can’t read a sentence properly, simply say it out loud and listen to yourself

I can read just fine, thank you. I don't think something like dyscalculia which is, most likely, self diagnosed should prevent someone from being able to add 20 to a 2 digit number especially if they are able to perform the much more arithmetically difficult task outlined above.

would love to hear from an actually good medic that uses the clock to count ubers, because I honestly can't imagine it. 0%-30%-70%-100% increments are almost always sufficient info to make good calls off of, and if you think you are off by ~10%, you can always just uber check.

I can add 20s to 30s because I know that 5 + 3 = 8, but if I have to add 20s to 55s and have to think about the sum rolling over into the next minute--but wait I'm supposed to subtract a minute--but I'm in the next minute now--I can't get my brain to work fast enough. I know this is objectively simple, I just cannot do it quickly. I probably could if I had a pencil and paper to write it down and look at it for a bit.

Self-diagnosis isn't always a Tumblr meme. Getting professionally diagnosed usually isn't trivial or inexpensive, and can even affect your likelihood of being employed (even if it's not supposed to lol). AFABs are also historically underdiagnosed. I don't really want to dump my personal info to justify myself to you, but I never graduated because I couldn't pass algebra. I held back tears during every math test, and my physics teacher told me after five attempts to explain a problem to me that he "didn't know how to help me" and gave up. I lost my job as a cashier in part because I couldn't handle actual money; I'd lose count every time I tried to give someone change, and customers had to help me do the math for them. I would be more shocked if I didn't have dyscalculia.
I tried to do the whole +15s -60s thing I mentioned earlier during a game and found that I just couldn't do it fast enough, especially with the whole rest of the game going on. If I'm not counting on my fingers for small sums, I'm still visualizing the side of a die in my head and counting the dots on it, which doesn't work for fast math in fast-paced games/while multitasking.

Rendoashoolifor the 50's just replace 5 with 1

So for example;
If med spawns at 10:53 you would replace the 5 with 1 which means the earliest they will have uber will be 10:13.
If med spawns at 10:43 you would replace the 4 with 0 which means the earliest they will have uber will be 10:03.

I know conceptually that you are better at math than me, but I don't understand why the thing you're saying is true.
If a medic spawns at 10:53, the average build time is 55s, so I would expect them to have close to 10:00. How are you getting a two minute difference?

My bad, fixed it. This method doesn't account for average build time it accounts for quickest build time which is what you should account for.

You could probably get away with only subtracting 1min to the timer when the medic spawns. I doubt teams in IM are building that hard anyways lol

I'm not 100% sure about how dyscalculia works, but what if you think of it not as addition/subtraction, but rather memorization? Using hooli's method, you would be adding the same 20 to every situation. So instead of thinking on the fly what is 30 + 20, you could make flashcards to memorize 00 + 20, 10 + 20, etc. That way, when you see 25 seconds on the clock, you have the 2 already associated -> 4, and then the ones place stays the same, so 45.
Beyond that, a lot of tracking ubers is a vibes thing. You know at the beginning of a push that you have a certain amount of ad (because you were at 70% when their medic spawned, for example). Then, since it's big ad, you decide to milk the uber. Then after you get that point, you ask yourself "was that a slow push, or did we go fast?", and from there, you can make an educated guess on if it's still ad or not. As you get better, your mental clock on knowing how fast you're going will get better and more specific. Then you can incorporate other factors, such as where the enemy team is positioned, if you've been building well, spotting the enemy medic's uber with the solemn vow, etc). Make it a habit to ask yourself the question "What are ubers?" and then you don't miss any details. And at the end of the day, everyone on your team should be able to track uber at least to some extent, so talk with your teammates (i.e. "Do we still think it's ad?") and decide from there.

I ended up asking Whisker about it, and he was able to pull the counter from deliHUDNeue and make it work in raysHUD for me. Here's the DL in case anyone else wants to use it: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xUfB4A1FMYeRLKBUHa_xKn3xcQyqbNUM/view?usp=sharing
