I actually disagree, at least as far as the site’s favorability is concerned. an auto captained open pug should probably never have worse than .55-.45 calculated favorability. you can just do 1 to 1 swaps after choosing the players and roles
to even out the ratings between each team. there are only 32 combinations to try before figuring out which one gives the closest to 50-50 favorability. of course the ratings themselves being inaccurate will throw this off but provided sample size the ratings will move to approach more accurate numbers. ive seen the auto picker pick teams that it calculates are 75-25 and this should literally just never happen. it wouldnt be hard to implement this either, and it would be fully independent of whatever logic they are using for picking the players / roles in the pug.

ive seen a good number of pugs get ruined by balance due to drunk players. ive seen more get ruined by bad player combinations, like 2 people who hate each other and argue for the entire pug, or ppl trolling glxy for fun at the expense of the pug. additionally, an elo system is too slow. ive had pugs where a new player went 2-25. an elo system will need 10 games before it determines that new player is a 500 elo player, but a captain will understand immediately that's a last pick.

it is Impossible for an algorithm to adequately balance pugs. even if you made a super ai for this purpose (big waste of time), it still wouldn't do a good job, since an algorithm doesn't play the game or join vc.

maybe I'm reading into it too much, but it seems like the system pretty heavily prioritizes picking people with lower elo even when there's enough people for a higher avg elo pug

I get significantly more roamer pugs over pocket because my roamer is like 200~ elo lower. If I add to both scout and soldier it always picks me on scout. I see people like rekuso added up and get fatkidded like 4+ pugs in a row vs spacebar who gets in nearly every pug he adds to. Pretty much everyone I've talked to about it agrees that they feel like they get picked on the lowest elo class they add to.

I would have had to do like 410 dpm to meet Expected Performance on damage when I only have 1450 Elo, you need to seriously adjust the way it scales. Having Spacebar in a pug shouldn't make it impossible for anybody else to gain Elo.

TLDR: award Elo based on winning the game, I can't believe this is still an issue 9 months after you were initially convinced to change it.

Elo should be win/loss only and you should never lose elo for winning a pug.

Also, when you sort by elo on the add-up screen, it doesn't sort players by highest to lowest elo. Sorting by div also doesn't work.

I misclicked when I was picking some of my mains for previous seasons, but I can't change them. Nothing happens when I click "OK" on the select your main window. Also, why do I have 1800 elo on every class?

I really despise the way these open pugs function. It almost always picks low elo teams and fat kids everyone with higher elo unless they are literally required for the pug to happen. Sometimes it picks teams with high elo players, but it is a rarity. I have been fatkidded 5 times in a row from open pugs before, and what else am I supposed to do when captain pugs either aren't alive, or I straight up cannot get picked because its all top invite players? I have no choice. Players with 1200 elo can add up and get picked instantly.

People are literally not trying to win open pugs, and many are just throwing pugs or not really trying that hard to win them. If they win pugs and gain elo they end up not getting picked. I don't know why we are incentivizing losing in our Competitive League's pug website. I think it's pathetic that it is a prevalent mentality and actual reality of using this website.

I cannot force people to add up captain, so I am forced to add up to open pugs in order to play. At the very least I should have a shot of being picked if I add up. Especially because I do play a large amount of medic pugs to make the pugs actually happen.

Maybe the timer needs to be set to 5 mins (5:30) for you to actually get banned like how most private pug groups do it.

Another concern i think most people have is that players with low elo get picked in pugs where the avg elo is like 1800 or the whole lobby is adv one person on each team is a permafeeder, which is ok if thats what needs to happen for the pug to get started but it gets kinda frustrating when there are available people who get fatkidded. Idk if thats a site fault or the players fault for not just adding up to captain pugs but i think thats how most people i know feel about it.

A less important suggestion i think would be adding a recent bans page for all disciplinary actions.

his logs show he has done this for the last 4 pugs tonight and there's no way he hasn't been reported already

I usually have the pug log channel (reports/sub votes/appeals) visible most of the evening, except for times like last night when I was busy doing production. And yes, you were the first to report that player for trolling. I'll be working on a way to notify any report creators if their report resulted in disciplinary action, just so that there is some feedback.

I don't aspire to appeal to others in this game, everyone is so quick to judge, critique, shit talk, bash, fuck with, its a mess.
