New weapons is fun for a bit but doesn't solve any long term problems. I am of the opinion tf2 really just need some balance changes (gutting the weapons touge mentioned) and optimizations so 240hz is viable for people with good computers without making the game look worse than half life 1
the changes I want !!
1. A "ping" system, that either allows medics to ping locations on the map, or all classes or something. (I also think minimaps like in cs would be a welcome addition but i understand that would be pretty hard).
2. Reduce the radius of the airblast cone, or make it so that airblast gets weaker and weaker the more times it's used in a row. Alternatively, make players who are airblasted able to strafe like they jumped, or at 80% strafe speed or something. Or do all of these things.
3. For weapon changes, I thought of some that I thought might be cool but any reworks to the broken weapons would be welcome:
Pretty Boy's Pocket Pistol
This weapon fires 100% accurate rounds
This weapon holsters 20% slower
+15% primary (scattergun) reload speed penalty
The Mad Milk
Heals only 20% of damage done instead of the current ridiculous 60%, and you can only milk a maximum of 2 players at once
-5% movement speed on wearer
Vita-Saw
+15% Medi-Gun range
Per melee hit: Medi-Gun range increases by 5% (up to some maximum)
-10 maximum health
The Diamondback
On backstab: 3 seconds of 100% critical chance
-20% damage penalty
-33% clip size

idk where u guys are pulling from that it's gonna be any bigger than the usual christmas or halloween update, expect that the maps are permanent. i'm pretty sure the only purpose of the blog post is to let workshop creators know they dont have to add a bunch of snow and pumpkin bombs to their maps to make it in the game

I don't think any optimizations will happen ever. From what I understand most of the original developers of tf2 are on other projects, and optimizing old code is a pain in the ass. What would help tf2 performance a lot is making it use more CPU cores but I think it requires rewriting much of the code to work in parallel.

Idk what good this update is gunna be when people try to play these new maps and still gotta deal with bots.
valve heard all the feedback about making airblast not feel shitty and made it feel worse, at this point i don't think i want to see them attempt any balance changes because they'll just make things worse
Probably unlikely, but I wish they changed the Quick Play system back to something like it was before. Or fix it in a way that promotes community servers again. I think a lot of people (myself included) got introduced to competitive tf2 or had their first experience through community server organized events (community teams etc...). It would actually benefit valve to do something like this as then, each community server is responsible for dealing with bots.
Maybe a bit more likely is that I hope they bring back the con-tracker and do something with it like they did in Jungle Inferno/Gun Mettle. I don't think this is too unrealistic considering they already update the Halloween one yearly to include the new maps so it isn't like they haven't touched it for 6 years or something.

Looks like Valve updated this part of the blog post from:
https://www.teamfortress.com/The last few Team Fortress summer events have only been item updates. But this year, we're planning on shipping a full-on update-sized update — with items, maps, taunts, unusual effects, war paints and who knows what else?! Which means we need Steam Workshop content! YOUR Steam Workshop content!

exaLooks like Valve updated this part of the blog post
i can respect valve just assuming people would know they'd give the bare minimum but it looks like some of us got too excited and now they've quietly clarified "holiday-sized" i.e clicking a green check on some workshop cosmetics & maps and maybe some minor fixes

not really, people are just way too hyped and taking stuff out of context. valve were pretty explicit about it just being community-based stuff like always. "update sized update" only means big changes if you remove the entire rest of the blog post surrounding it
I take back my previous post
lock all the valve writers in a broom closet and throw away the key so they stop emotionally abusing people

guys this must be mastercoms being integrated

BrockThat’s some serious backpedaling.
More like serious rephrasing. Anyone with functional reading skills could tell you this wasn't going to add new weapons and rebalances.

If we're lucky. I'm betting it means map-specific fixes
